Hotel Mawlawi
Right in the centre of things, on a small square in the heart of the bazaar area, the Hotel Mawlawi can't really be beaten in terms of location. It's quite an old hotel, a bit faded and musty, but characterful and friendly. The owners were particularly pleased to have me as a guest, because I gave Newcastle as my city in the UK, which is where a lot of Kurds from Slemani end up...some of their friends apparently run a restaurant there, which will be investigated very soon!
Unique Quality: My room was not luxurious, but at 25,000 dinars a night it was never going to be. it was certainly a step up from Erbil's budget hotels though...comfy beds and not an indestructible six-legged beast in sight. The shower was hot too, without being burning hot, which is always good.
Not the cheapest place in town, but I don't think I'd have wanted to go much cheaper at that point! There are plenty of alternatives on Kawa Street if the Mawlawi happens to be full though.

staing for 2 nites, the hotel very clean, good food, exelent service, very comfortable, over all the staff over polite, i really enjoied been to that hotell and would go back agin. on the other hand the city , is beutiful & breathtaking, the view from the room window is amaizing....

Bahashti Shar Motel: An Iraqi Hotel
Stay there in Nov. 2006.
This is really an Iraqi style hotel with cheap and not so clean carpet on the floor. More an appartment than a hotel room.
Big room and basic (but also big) bathroom.
650 channels on the TV !
Poor breakfast
The whole evalutation is ok because it is located in Sulemaniye, Iraq
Paid 100 USD + 10 % service for a suite with 2 adjacent bedrooms
Unique Quality: Near a park.
Free internet (broadband).

Sulaimani Palace Hotel: City Center Hotel
This Hotel is in the process of being completely refurbished, but as it is one of the very few hotels in the city at this time it cannot be closed to complete the work. Security is of a very high standard and all the staff are very polite and friendly. There are two places to eat in the building one open early, and one open late.
Unique Quality: The views from this hotel are spectacular, a huge panarama accross the city to the foothills of the Mountain range
