the Beach
Netanya has the best beaches we've been to in Israel. The sand is well-kept, the beaches are rarely crowded and the water is great. There are rockier beaches north of the city (Mikhmoret, for instance) where there are no breakwaters and it might be possible to surf a bit. The main Netanya city beach has both stairs and a large elevator for access from the bluffs.
In the mornings the average age of beachgoers is probably around 72, but a younger crowd shows up later in the afternoon and on Shabbat. We really enjoyed the cafes on the beach and on the bluffs above in the city square (Kikar HaAtzma'ut).
