On Mount Carmel - Haifa
by Sharon about Nof Hotel
Nof Hotel which in Hebrew means (Scenery/view/landscape Hotel) Is indeed a place where you have a great View all over Northern and easter Haifa, You can watch the port of Haifa below, and if there's a good visibility then you can easily see Akko (Acre).
The Hotel is Located on Mount Carmel, just near the (relatively) new promanade.
The rooms are nice though not posh, I think 3 floors are renovated and the other 2 or 3 are not, or at least thats how it was when i visited there so you might want to check this before
booking.
Staying at this area of Haifa is an advantage also for being close to many of Haifa attractions (not that tehre are too many) and the view is just great.
Mind you during winter time its Cold out there.

Organised day tours to Galilee, Golan area or Nazareth, starting from Haifa
by Norbs2
Dear travellers,
I will spend 6 days in Haifa from 10-15 October 2010 for a scientific conference and have got 3 days off for sightseeing (One of these days I will go to Jerusalem by an organised tour, 1 day I will dedicate to a visit of Haifa).
On another day I want to visit parts of the North of Israel, e.g. the region Galilee (to enjoy the green landscape), or the Sea of Galilee (to visit Kapharnaum and other sites mentioned the Bible), the Golan region (?) and/or Nazareth.
Please, can you tell me any tour organiser who will start from Haifa (either any city square or even from the main hotels; as we stay at Nof Hotel) for a guided one-day tour into one or more of the mentioned areas.
I would greatly appreciate your soon recommendations.
Many thanks in advance for your help!

With so little time, the only thing to visit in Haifa is the Baha'i Gardens (reserve tour in advance - in morning only - their web site has details). As this will take no more than half a day, I would suggest using the other half to get to somewhere else in the Galilee and Golan and you may even have some time left for a little sightseeing (dark outside between 5:30 and 6pm). My recommendation: Rent a car and do it yourself. You will see *much* more that way. All you need is a good guide book. Enjoy your stay in Israel!

Akko (or Acre) has a very nice old-town with remains from crusdaer, arabs, etc.
It is only half an hour drive north of Haifa. I think you can do half day tour there without a guide. Sea of Gallile + Nazarteh can also be done on one day, but i can't help you about a guide - there is a site i think you can contact Israeli guides.
Enjoy!

Most of the major tour companies do not seem to start group tours in Haifa. If there is such a thing I am sure that your hotel will have information. Are you interested in a private tour?
