Rosh Hashana in Tiberias

by Jesperp

How does we prepare for Rosh Hashana in Tiberias? How much is closed beginning sundown Sept. 12, and stays closed until Sabbath, Sept. 15 is over. Can we make reservations at a hotel for meals only? Thanks.

We, the Israelis, are going to have a very long weekend, indeed, from sundown of 12th Sept till motsaey shabbath 15th.
I don't see any problem for tourists in Tiberias or anywhere in Israel on these holidays.
What tourist services do you need?
You will have a variety of restaurants open everywhere, and for sure you can make reservation at a hotel for meals only.
Tourist guides are working at these days, and tourist information or hotels will help you with transportation.

Is it all the other restaurants than the Jewish’s do you mean?

You can find Jewish restaurants open in these days, as well, in Tiberias and around [beth gavriel, for example, or Ginosar]. Not all restaurants are KOSHER. There are also good oriental restaurants around, run by Arabs of Galilee.
Kinnereth - Lake of Galilee is a touristic area, visited by many non-Jewish tourists, and they don't go hungry to bed 364 days a year - Yom Kipur is the only exception.

Travel Tips for Tiberias

Mt. Bental-3

by jadedmuse

Outside the bunker is a sign-post showing the distance to Damascus, Baghdad, Beirut, and other strategic points. Perched alongside the bunker are metal effiges of Israeli soldiers on guard....a haunting depiction of what it must have been like to be perched atop this mountain, fighting off aggressive enemies.

On a lighter note, the "Cloud Cafe" is a nice little coffee shop next to the parking lot area. It's definitely worth going into the shop even if you're not in the mood for a snack or coffee, because along the walls you'll find terrific photos and short histories of the geography and people of this important and very strategic area.
