location

We stayed in Crowne Plaza when we came back Jerusalem from Petra, the reason we choose the hotel because it is at the entrance route to the city from Tel Aviv, and my husband needs to go to Tel Aviv for business, it is very easy for him to get on route#1 from the hotel, it also only takes 5 min walk for me to go the new central bus station to take bus#20 to Jaffa Gate and visit Old city.
The room is okay, 2+ or 3 star, the price is right, my opinion

Rooms Need Updating

The amenities were good though we never used them. We were with a tour group of about 120. Spoke with many on the group concerning our rooms here and many had the same complaints. Room decor from the 1960's but clean. the biggest drawback was the bathrooms, some showers worked, some didn't, toilets runs all off and on all night etc., kids running up and down the hall during the weekend so rather noisy.

There was a step out balcony. We were there in mid November and was unseasonably warm, would have been great to have left the doors open to let the breeze in but the noise from the air-conditioners supplying air to the lobby was just too loud.

There was no place to go once we came back for the day to have dinner there was no place we could walk to for shopping, or just looking as it was partly business district, partly gov't area and partly up and coming high rent residential condo distict. No shop or groceries, etc. If we wanted to skip the usual buffet fare in the diningroom there was NO WHERE else to eat without a $30 taxi ride somewhere and back.

The hotel food; Breakfast was good. We would get an egg and cheese omelet and juice. After the first evening meal we would come down and pick at this or that but mostly we lived on breakfast and the evening desserts. The food is so rich we just got tired of eating it but mostly it was just the difference in the taste we couldn't overcome. I did run into some folks who liked it pretty well but most of us regular folks didn't like it at all.

Good central location.

The Crowne Plaza is extremely convenient if you had to work on the West side of Jerusalem, but still want to be close to the action. It's a full service hotel - with restaurants, shops, running water, concierge, etc. It is located just north of the government complex in Jerusalem, and just south of the new Central Bus station. Depending on which side of the building you get, you may have a view of the Supreme Court building and Knesset, or even looking towards the Old City, or a nice view of the Bus Station Clock (like I had).

Everything is within walking distance, in terms of sites to see - the Israel Museum where the Dead Sea Scrolls are kept - even the Old City - a short 30 min walk to the Jaffa Gate.

Unique Quality: It's a tall building, so the view, high up, is fantastic!

Crowne Plaza Jerusalem

This hotel (the former Hilton) is adequate. The rooms are dated, especially the bathrooms, and the lobby needs to be refurbished. The desk service also needs to be improved. The main advantage of the Crowne Plaza is its location, adjacent to the Jerusalem convention center (Binyanei Hauma). The hotel is on the western edge of the city, so it is not near the Old City.

by ellenog about Crown Plaza Jerusalem

I found the Crown Plaza online and booked the hotel. After booking I then found Virtual Tourist. The reviews of the hotel were not great and I was worried. I am here to say, the Crown Plaza met all my expectations. The rooms were clean and modern. The bathroom shower was high enough, hot enough and hard enough to was my hair. The views from our balcony was spectacular. And the hotel staff went beyond the call of duty to make our stay a great stay. We had a few meals in the hotel and they were good and inexpensive. Although we were told renovations were being made, there were no signs of these renovations going on. I have nothing but praise for this hotel, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Jerusalem. The rooms were clean and modern, the view from the balcony was fabulous, the lobby was cozy, the restaurants were clean and appealing.
