Little known treasure
I would highly recommend this hotel to real travellers who care about location, local service and a real experience more than free toiletries and a posh lobby!
The English-speaking staff could not have been more helpful - lending us towels for a trip to the Dead Sea, lending us a laptop to check-in for our flight home, changing bookings for us, finding us a new room when ours proved a little noisy, giving us advice on bus routes...anything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The stairs to the first floor reception were the last straw at the end of a long day of sightseeing but that's a little gripe.
The hotel is constantly being upgraded. The beds are new with good mattresses and comfortable bedding, the towels are due for replacement. The showers are powerful and the rooms are all ensuite but the soap and shampoo are basic. There is an interesting range of artwork adorning the walls. There is air-conditioning, television, a fridge but no tea and coffee making facilities. All the rooms are different, both in size and layout so do ask to see another if you don't fancy the first one. Some have small balconies and all have shutters.
Breakfast is next door and is Israeli-style: salad, cheeses, tuna, olives, bread and preserves, freshly-made omelette, fresh lemonade, cereal, tea and coffee, nothing flash but all you need for starting the day.
Unique Quality: The Jerusalem Inn is ideally located for a stay to explore the city and beyond. It is just off the Jaffa Road, a very easy five minute walk to a great range of shops and restaurants, also to the local buses for travelling further afield.
It is a gentle ten minute (maximum) walk to Jaffa Gate and the Old City of Jerusalem.
I would say it's one of the best located hotels in the city and I would certainly stay at the Jerusalem Inn again, it is good value for money in a very expensive city and provides all you need plus great service.
