Tzuba Hotel: Kibbutz Hotel in the Jerusalem Mountains
I stayed in the Tzuba Kibbutz Hotel for a weekend, and greatly enjoyed my stay. This is a very friendly hotel run by the kibbutz members. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, with mountains, pine tree forests and vineyards. There are several small two-storey kibbutz-style buildings with four rooms each. The rooms are actually suites, with a large sitting room, a kitchenette and a balcony. The bedroom itself is rather small, with a disproportionately large cupboard covering a whole wall. The sitting room has a bedsitter, which is not very comfortable to sit on. I loved sitting on my balcony, admiring the hilly countryside view and enjoying the peace and quiet all around.
There is a swimming pool (open only during summer), and there are various guided walks in the area combining nature, history, archaeology and beautiful views. Our guide, Reuven, was very impressive, an M.A. in archaeology who had conducted the excavations in Tzova by himself.
The meals are served in the general kibbutz dining hall, and this gives you an opportunity to see kibbutz life. Food is good and plentiful, although not exactly gourmet. Friday dinners (eve of the Sabbath) are served in a different dining hall, separate from the kibbutz members.
Beautiful surroundings, quiet and relaxed atmosphere, good service, location within a kibbutz, proximity to Jerusalem.
