never again

My lady friend and I stayed at the Hilton Queen of Sheba in Eilat from jan 12 till jan 19 2012 in room nr. 274.
We expected a beautifull room Hilton standard, but our surprise was very big.

Here is a list of our compaints.

The wardrobe was impossible to use and way too small.
The view was not very nice.
There was a small coach in the room but no chair.
There was no chair on the balcony.
The headbord of the bed was very dirty.
The couch was dingy
The carpet had stains on it.
There was no space to put our things in the bathroom
The quilt covers (for duvets) were far too small.
The duvets were hanging out approximately half a meter and the seams of the covers where torn
First part of the week we had no tea bags and the last days we had no sweetener for our tea.
The shower was next to the bathtub, there was no shower cubicle and no shower curtain around the shower area, so after showering we couldn’t enter the bathroom anymore due to all the water on the Floor. There was nothing to clean and dry the floor with.

And then the cleaning.

The room was only cleaned once in the whole week on the day before we left. The room was dirty !!
No vacuum cleaning, no dusting. The bathroom was never properly cleaned. The mirrors were very dirty. We never had clean sheets besides the ones we got on the day of arrival. We only got many clean towels every day.
In short: the room was dirty !! We didn’t have a good time because we were very annoyed about the room.
The name of this hotel “Hilton, Queen of Sheba” is a disgrace for the name of Hilton Hotels.
When I wrote the Hilton a letter with my complains I received an answer and a “compensation.”
15 % discount on the next reservation. What a shame !!!
As if we will ever go back to the Hilton Hotel. !!!
L.W.

The Hilton

The Hilton is one of the nicest hotels here in Eilat. The location is just by the sea in north beach. So far I have only visited this hotel but I haven't stayed over night here. But there is a good chance that I might use it in my next stay in Eilat.

Failed to meet expectations

Generally a good hotel, clean rooms, moderate service, saying that I think it is not worth the (expensive) price. The whole "Queen of Sheba" hype fails to meet the expectations.
We feel we could get the same for less money in any other 4 star hotel.

Pros:
Clean big rooms, very nice and clean pool, and nice spa center, very good breakfast
Cons:
Not what you would expect from a so called "luxury 5 star hotel":
- When we arrived the bathtub was clogged, we needed to call service (must admit problem was taken care asap)
- TV in room - a 21 inch cheap TV with strange colors (everything was green), you would expect some deacent 25 inch or deacent TV for $85 a night per person (= $170 per room for 2).
- The "standard" dining room (where we had dinner) - food was edible, nothing more.
I had better meals at the dining room at my work.
Poor service - the host forced us to sit by a tiny small table for two wich was exactly 2 feet in front of dirty dishes collection station, although the dining hall is HUGE and was 90% empty (and didn't fill up).
- Every tiny little thing is extra cost with outrageous prices, as a local resident of Israel I know what is simply "expensive" and what is just "outrageous". Hilton is definitly "outrageous". Some examples -
1. Internet - they charge you 20 NIS (~ 4.5 USD) for using the net for 15 minutes (!), any deacent 4 or even 3 star hotel has free internet, heck even a 3d world remote airport or a simple cafee have free internet, and the Hilton simply wont give up the opportunity of making another buck, no matter the fact they charge you $170 a night per room.
2. Gym and SPA (includes sauna, jaccusy) is NOT free, yes my friends, you need to add ANOTHER 35 NIS (~ 7 USD) a day to get a "whole day free pass" to the spa and facilities bla bla bla, (translation: "we think you are stupid, please hand us your money").

Basic line is we felt that the Hilton didn't give us a proper value for our money, and there was a greed atmosphere and a one-way "give us your money" attitude.

Unique Quality: Very Nice Breakfast
Very nice Pool

Eilat's Best Service

As a Hilton Gold VIP, you receive one of the best experience as far as Hilton Worldwide Resorts go. Once at the exquisite entrance to the hotel, you are greeted by a security guard. All entrances to the hotel are guarded 24 hours a day and seven days a week so there are no security concerns during your stay. The staff at the front desk try to make sure that you feel welcome and there was even an entertainment troop on hand to give you the feeling that you have entered Queen Sheba's kingdom. Check in is fast and due to my Gold VIP status I received a free room upgrade to a family room with a spacious living room, kitchenette and large bedroom. The balcony gave me a great view of the Red Sea and on a clear day I could see Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia as well as Eilat, Israel.

On the 8th floor there is an executive lounge. The suites with the jacuzzis on the balcony, as well as Hilton VIPs, receive entrance to the lounge from 11:00-20:00 where they can read international newspapers, have drinks, or just take in the quiet atmosphere. For VIPs and guests staying in suites, there is a special breakfast on the 12th floor every morning where you have no lines, and get a much more personal service.

All in all every stay at the Queen of Sheba has been magical.

Unique Quality: The pool is heated during winter months, the spa is somewhat small compared to Herod's Vitalis which was built around the spa and is what they pride themselves on. The central location on the promenade puts you in walking distance to the Red Sea Mall and many of the clubs and restaurants in the area, yet the hotel boasts what I believe is the best stakehouse in Eilat, The Buffalo Steak House.

The Best Hotel In Eilat

This Hilton hotel is without a doubt the best one in Eilat and one of the most beautiful hotels i saw in the world. It has a very special appearance, very big, nice color, it loook like an old castle of the ancient Egyptians.
Situated in the center of Eilat, in a very active area all day long and also all the night. the hotel is viewing the Red sea and situated only 20 meters ffrom the beach.
I belive that in this hotel you can find some of the best rooms in Eilat.
Another thing you can find it this hotel is a small mall at the first floo, there are some cool shops.

Unique Quality: The Hilton Eilat Queen of Sheba is an architectural gem, designed in honor of the imaginary biblical palace of the Queen of Sheba, built by King Solomon. The façade is decorated with ancient motifs of towers, domes, arches, pillars and mosaics.

Some place to be spoiled

a very good hotel (obviously) which offer all the luxury. Great view to the Jordan beaches and all Eilat bay. the hotel is very central and in a walking distance to many attractions and night life area.
I've been there 2 years ago for a long weekend as i got it from the former company i used to work for. as the one who helped organaizing this i got a suite in the 10th floor ...couldnt complain really...
Although all that i like a bit more quiet places which are far from the center and a bit smaller.
