4-stars hotel

Located Eilat's North Shore Hotel District, the Vista is an excellent venue for a Red Sea Holiday. In the west is a charming "vista" of Eilat framed by its milti-colorful mountains and in the east and south lovely views of the Edom Mountains of Jordan and the Gulf of Aqaba.
The hotel is inexpensive, represents excellent value, and is a comfortable base for enjoying all that Eilat's Red Sea Riviera has to offer.

Comfortable and good value

We stayed 2 nights at the Vista Hotel in Eilat last weekend, and on the spot decided to return for 3 nights this coming weekend.

This is a small/medium size hotel, located about 3 blocks (5–7 minutes' walk) from the tayelet (boardwalk) and beach. The hotel was renovated last year, and is clean and attractive, with comfortable lobby seating and a cozy snack bar. The modest-sized, narrow pool runs alongside the lobby and restaurant, and is distinguished by a waterfall.

Our standard guest room was adequate in size, though hardly spacious. It held a double bed, a settee that unfolds to a single bed, a narrow counter to hold personal effects, a small dresser (TV on top), and a counter/desk with a tea kettle and a mini-fridge underneath. Standard rooms do not have balconies.

There is no desk chair, and no in-room Internet, so don't expect to get much work done in the room. (There is WiFi in the lobby and restaurant).

The bathroom also is just big enough, and the shower was comfortable and strong.

The hotel breakfast was quite satisfactory. It included a wide variety of fresh salads, vegetables, fruits, yogurts, and cheeses; several cold cereals; hot eggs, souffles, pancakes, burekas, and other hot-tray items; pastries; and except on Jewish holidays, made-to-order omelettes. We did not eat any other meals in the hotel.

We did not have many special requests, but the service we received was always courteous and efficient.

My only complaints were: (1) The bottom sheet was a bit too small for the mattress; as it barely fitted over the mattress, it occasionally slipped off to expose the mattress. (2) The railings had broken off the small shelves on the fridge door, so nothing could be stored on them.

Overall, we were quite pleased with the Vista Hotel. It represents very good value in its price range.

Unique Quality: Frankly, there's not much unique or special about this hotel. It's comfortable in size and appointments, offers good service and good food, and its prices are quite reasonable.

Q: Walking distance? "Does anyone know how far it is from the border crossing at Taba to the Underwater observatory in Eilat?...and are there taxis..."

A: "It's about 2km from the Eilat side of the Taba crossing to the Observatory - if you look on Google maps both are marked. There's a bit of "no man's land" between the Taba..."
