Completely appalled by Sheraton buffet by its looks and smells, we have decided to dine somewhere else.
Le Meridien was a much better choice in terms of everything - dinner, hotel facilities, crowd!!!
Even more frustrating, Le Meridien was my first option in En Boqeq but didnt manage to stay there as it was fully booked...
So even if its humongous book in advance because its probably the best hotel by the Dead Sea and highly popular...
Probably the only disadvantage is its location - bit far from the beach...

This is definitely a hotel to be avoided, nothing to do with Sheraton standards, its 5star rating or $200 rate per night!
The furniture is very tired, plenty of spots and eventually holes in our carpet, some floors were in renovations, the spa facilities were not exactly clean, the dinner looked and smelled awful, the breakfast nothing to write home about..
    Very disappointing experience

The only thing we have appreciate was the location, kind of quiet and right on the beach

What can I say? We fully pampered ourselves here and although the hotel alone cost us more than we cared to pay (which was $145 a night during LOW season), we considered the value of the experience and the sense of indulgence which was really a lot of fun.

Some of the spa amenities are included for hotel guests, while others are not. Check with the hotel first.

Sulfur pools, mud baths, hydrotherapy, indoor dead sea pool and outdoor regular "fresh water" pool, direct beach front, great beach views

  • My only real complaint about this hotel was that when I was there, I found that kids were constantly running around and it was not very relaxing.

Le Meridien Dead Sea: Best Hotel in the Dead Sea

  • Formerly the Hyatt, this is one of the best if not the best hotel in the Dead Sea. The spa is first class and the hotel is spacious and beautiful. At first I was confused because I could not find the entrance. It is actually inside and not near the road so your first moment at the hotel and you already start to feel like you are in a secluded area and can't be bothered by the outside world. The hotel's breakfast and meals were excellent and they had activities for kids and adults alike so you there is never a dull moment. The standard rooms are nice especially those that overlook the pool at night.

Below I have listed the official website of the hotel though I have found that you can get much better rates at http://www.fattal.co.il This is the company that manages the hotel for Le Meridien.

The spa is first class all the way. I also had an unbelievable view from my room of the pool and Dead Sea.

    Meridien Dead Sea: Mixed Feelings
  • Satisfaction:
  • By ArikGoldberg on October 19, 2007
  • Despite the fact that this hotel is considered the best hotel in the Dead Sea area, I would have a hard time recommending it. The spa is divided into two floors (an older one on the first floor and a new one on the second floor). The new spa is very nice, but if you ask for a mud treatment, you will be sent to the first floor which is horrendous. The facilities are falling apart and the level of cleanliness is not the best. We were really amazed that a "Meridien" would provide such crappy facilities. In general, the service is of mediocre level and the level of maintanance at the hotel is quite low. It might be true that when the hotel was opened several years ago, it was a 5 star hotel. But today, the facilities are very tired and are not well maintained. One example of the low quality of service took place when we arrived to the hotel before the official check in time. When we tried to leave our bags in temporary storage, the bell boy told us he could not be responsible for the bags. If we wished, we could leave the bags in an unlocked room where the towels are stored, but no one is watching this room. We were quite surprised to see this kind of service at such a hotel.

This hotel is not one of the most famous big hotels. It is an old one but has very much charm in my opinion. It is more affordable, has a good spa and its own beach where you can go straight from the hotel without needing to cross a road and walk far.
Stayed there in October 1999 and in April 2003.

When I stayed here it was called Hyatt - but there are no more Hyatt hotels in Israel (as far as I know) and now it is called Meridien David. A very big hotel with nice grounds, but the hotel beach is a bit far away, accross the road and they have a mini bus service that drives you there and back.

Golden Tulip is the most beautiful hotel at The Dead Sea in my opinion. It has beautiful architecture, great rooms, great food, great spa... all is great, only one bad thing and that is having to cross the road to go to the beach.
