    There are several places to stay near Engedi, but there's only one Youth Hostel near the natural preserve here and that's Beit Sara. The hostel is very big, you can choose between your own luxury apartment or staying in the bunkhouse which is cheaper ofcourse.
    I had to pay 50 dollars a night for an apartment. The apartment has several beds, beautiful bathroom, table with chairs & a balcony with view on the Dead Sea.

    Besides staying in the youthhostel you have three other options. You can work for the preserve and stay in a guesthouse instead of getting money, you can stay in the kibbutz nearby and work for your staying and food there or you can drive further and choose for one of the hotels.

    This is a 4 Star Hotel on the shores of the dead sea , on En Boqeq.
    With regular pool , spa - with sulfur pool , salt pool , sauna , jacuzzi ,. a private beach , nice people , good food.

    Rooms with view to the mountains or to the sea.

    Although it is not the best hotel in the area it is a very good one !

    A lot of cats are around Beit Sarah youth hostel. The one on the picture sneaked in our apartment for some attention.

    The gardner of the hostel told me, the cats are at the hostel for years. They are cats of special races. They are beautiful indeed, but most of all I found that this little kitty was very sweet.

    • the rooms were comfortable an very clean, however the hostal does not provide towels in the price so estimate extra to rent a towel or bring your own.

    there are only 2 hostals in that area and the bus from Jerusalem leaves you at the entrance, so I went to the one that had availability.

    The closest market or store is about 1km away and there is no street lights so be sure you have everything you need. and the kitchen closes early, right after dinner, I think 8pm
    ( be sure to carry your flashlight, extra food , etc)

    It is near the Ein Gedi National Reserve, so the sunrise tours depart from the 2 hostals.

    The hostal ensures to prepare a lunch pack for your trip to the Park, charish it because it will be a great lunch and the only thing you will have once up there in the rocks.

    We have actually drove to En Booqeq and stayed at Sheraton - which I dont recommend at all - pls see En booqeq's tips.

    A kibbutz, founded in 1956, is located about a kilometer from the oasis, taking advantage of the local weather patterns and the abundance of natural water to cultivate out-of-season produce.
    Prior to the founding of the kibbutz, the Ein Gedi area had not been permanently inhabited for 500 years.

    We stayed one night at the Beit Sarah Guest House at En Gedi. This hostel is not in Kibbutz En Gedi, but right at the entrance to the nature reserve.
    A double room cost 330 NIS - buffet breakfast included. The room has A/C (of course!), TV, fridge and an electric kettle.
    All the rooms have a balcony or verandah (if being on the ground floor) and great views to the Dead Sea.
