"Sherut" VAN-Cabs run from just outside the "New Central bus station" in Tel Aviv to Recohovot during Shabbat: at least from 8AM until about midnight. Price during Saturday (and Friday after the public buses services stop) is higher by some 25-35% then the ones on weekdays (I Believe its some 15 Shekels each way).

The cab leaves when its full (10-11 people) and go through Rishon Letsion and Ness Tsiona, arriving at Rechovot usually in about 30 minutes, driving along the main street crossing city center from north to south (=near Weizzman institute, central bus station and city center).

The exact location these specific cabs stand is on the southern edge of "Zemach David" street, close to corner of the bus stations building.

Getting back to Tel Aviv: you will have to wait anywhere along the route (in Rechovot) and wave to the cab when you see it (they are orange&green in color). The ones arriving from Tel Aviv just turn around when dropping all passengers, and heading back to Tel Aviv the same way.

Travel Tips for Tel Aviv-Yafo

Try to make 4x4 tours in...

by inuit

Try to make 4x4 tours in Israel. There are many 4x4 tours organised in the Negev desert or the Judean desert where you can also try camel tours or sleeping in Bedouin tents and try local food. I was once asked by a fashion magazine to photo a model out side in the desert during a camel and 4x4 tour in the Ramon crater area. You can see what came out.

Take A Seat!!

by Jackiekg

Today I went on a tour of the area of Rothschild Blvd. to hear about the architecture there - (will be adding more photos to my travelogue on architecture) - and these seats were put up along Rothschild Blvd. The part I covered was from corner Herzl /Rothschild Street as far as Sothebys, just past Spadal Street. There are about 150 of these seats placed all over the city. This is a commercial project and include seats that were designed by designers and architects, backed by large commercial firms in Israel. In about two months these seats will be offered for public sale with the monies earmarked for children in need. I think this is a great idea and the seats brighten up the town and your hearts when you see them.

Each seat has the name of the work and the name of its artist. If I knew the exact translation of each title I would write them. One I can translate and it is "Days of the Radio" - I shall let you decide which one this is.

View of Tel Aviv from Jaffa

by Carmela71

Following the promenade you will see this map of Jaffa where they show you the history of Jaffa.

But the best is the great views of Tel Aviv from this point, so we could not resist the photo, and I have to say we waited until another group finished theirs LOL

Streets statues.

by navaros

On the last couple of years Tel Aviv municipality has asked from well known artists to creat statues which will be standing on streets for a while. Last year it was dolphins... This year you can see decorated different 'chairs' all over. After a while all of them will be sell in an auction, and the money will be used for charity. Meanwhile we can enjoy colorful art and learn about artists.

The Tel-Aviv 10k Night Run

by iblatt

Tel-Aviv by night; 15,000 runners converge on Rabin Square and start running up Ibn-Gvirol Street. A huge mass of people wearing identical T-shirts is on the move. You can feel the excitement and the adrenalin in the air. The runners cross the Yarkon bridge, turn right into Rokach Boulevard, and after 5km leave the road, turn into the riverside park of Ganei-Yehoshua and start heading back in a westward direction.

On the way we see the Tel-Avivians watching from the sidewalks and cheering, there are DJs playing loud music along the way, and at the end there is a "happening" atmosphere, free mineral water, popsicles, energy bars, music, medals...
The race is 10km long, takes place on one of the evenings in October, and is lots of fun!
