Nice hotel in the middle of renovation

The hotel's facilities are very nice. There is a sports bar, three restaurants plus a buffet area. I didn't get a chance to check out the fitness facilities or swimming area.

The internet is also very fast and the business centre is reasonably equipped. The main problem though is the renovations that are continuing through until April, the sounds of which permeate through most of the hotel. They do make you well aware of it when you're checking in, but they're still a pain.

comfortable ---but not total luxury!

We stayed for several nights during April, 2009.
It's a tall, modern block away from the touristy parts of the city.
Our room was fine ---all mod-cons etc etc
Breakfast was excellent! Lots of selections ---plenty of space too.
We didn't try the main restaurants but ate in the bistro instead. The food and drink in there was okay ---but if you are after something sustantial then you should go to the restaurants.
The lounge areas are spacious but busy: do not expect to read quietly to yourself!
Would I stay here again? Yes ---but I'd prefer to find somewhere closer to the old city.

EXCELLENT ACCOMODATION - shame about the catering

STAYED MID OCTOBER FOR 3 NIGHTS
good rooms - clean / tidy well appointed - good view / really lovely beds / good room staff.
The catering was something else though - chaotic breakfast room - one morning there was no milk /butter / teaspoons. In the evening the Non smoking section was just a joke, and depite being initially the first couple in the resturant the chef managed to get our orders wrong.

building work in this hotel, & more significantly adjacent to it (two 20 storey blocks)

good sports bar down stairs ( but hard to find)

would i stay again -yes but i would eat out every night

Unique Quality: lovely pool in this busy city

sunday night - there was a local wedding in the hotel - great atmosphere

Crowne Plaza

The hotel is situated in the downtown business & shopping district, about 30 mins drive from the airport. There aren't any places of interest within walking distance due to the city layout & busy roads nearby. Taxis are the best way to explore the city from the hotel.

The hotel has 279 rooms on 11 floors. The hotel has a variety of bars & restaurants & all the leisure facilities you would expect, such as indoor & outdoor pool, tennis courts & a spa.
There are hotel shops, a tour desk & currency exchange facilities here too. The hotel had everything I needed for my stay in Amman.

Great Middle Class Location

The hotel was definitely built by the French. Big windows that open over the city, a little mall area with some shops, an over-price souvenier shop. There was also a patio where people could smoke some hubbly-bubbly outside.

Occasionally, I would get off the elevator with a band playing music for my entrance. This was because there were weddings in the hotel at all times, and occasionally I was mistook for a bride. Well, not really, there were just more than one elevator coming down...

Unique Quality: The mall area was unique, and you can walk to a lot of good restaurants and shops. The in-hotel restaurant was decent, overpriced, and made for the executives who didn't want to go out in the hot and dusty city.

BEST LUXURY HOTEL NEAR THE AIRPORT AND MOTORWAYS

The Crowne Plaza offers an excellent location, services, staff and amenities. This is the lowest priced luxury hotel near the Airport and Motorways.

In addition to helpful staff there are several restaurants (not cheap) and 2 bars. There are 2 swimming pools (one indoor), saunas, whirlpools and a mini bar in your room. The Car rental company 'Dallah Rent A Car' has a desk in the lobby and cars in the car park. They give excellent rental prices! and I drove all of Jordan on one of their cars.

If you speak to the staff, they will be nice eneough to take you onto the roof to take pictures of the 7 hills of Amman.

See if anybody pays attention to the fact that one whirlpool is painted pink and the other blue in the leisure complex.

Unique Quality:
Luxury and accessibility that won't kill the budget. We stayed here for about $70 a night. The buffet was excellent.

There are nice shops/shopping mall next door and an ATM. Accross the street is a fantastic grocery store and sweet shop.

Amman, all of it, is only a $1-2 taxi ride away.

Laptop and Internet at Hotel?

by use2bbandman

I will be staying at the Crowne Plaza Amman and the Crowne Plaza Petra while visiting in November and I am wondering about the internet services at these hotels..... Not certain if I want to carry my laptop through 12 days of Egypt and the on to Jordan, but I do write a travel blog daily with pictures and would like to keep this current during my travels. Are there any internet cafes close to either, or both, of these hotels? Thanks for any assistance on this matter.

I don't know the Crowne Plaza in Amman, but in Petra, yes there is an internet service in the hotel and an internet cafe a few hundred meters away.

Internet cafes are common in Jordan, you shouldn't have any trouble, although I don't know about uploading photos.

You can check out the website of a hotel internet access provider such as interTouch (http://www.inter-touch.com) to see if a broadband-enabled hotel is listed for Egypt and Jordan.
