A Taste of Jordan

This hotel is in Downtown Jordan in an area of embassies and a lot of construction. It seems to be a safe area. The hotel is not like any Best Western in the US. Typically of this part of the world, not everything works like new, and wires are drapped about the walls. It is semi-clean, but comfortable. The rooms are big. The help is semi-helpful. They did not know how to set the A/C units, for example. You need to know how to operate the euro-style A/Cs yourself.

One reviewer was bummed out by the do not drink the water sign at the sink. That is typical of this part of the world and generally good advice. Just use bottled water for drinking or brushing your teeth.

The resturant is old school, but fine. The room price includes breakfast.

Unique Quality: We were told that the price of the hotel included transfers from the airport. The taxi driver did not ask for money when we came in, but did upon returning to the airport. At that point the driver wanted $50 at a time and place where there was no one to appeal to. This hotel can work if you need to be in the embassy area, but is not a good idea if you are only in-transit as it is located about 30-40 minutes from the international airport.

Not Recommended

We left this hotel. The toilet did not work. Someone "fixed" it, but it did not work when we went to use it again. The toilet issue was the main reason. But the fact there was a sign in the bathroom cautioning us not to drink the water sealed the deal for me. We zipped up our luggage and hustled down to the main highway to hail a taxi to take us to another hotel.

Unique Quality: On the plus side, it was a very large room with two double beds and a cozy sitting area.

Welcome, comfortable rest

Yes, the rooms were comfortable, but they were a bit shabby and tired - but then, so were we after arriving in Amman at 2am and losing a suitcase on the way! We were very glad of a comfortable bed and a hot shower when we woke. Breakfast was fine next morning, the staff were helpful and efficient and we were on our way. The Best Western Dove is an unpretentious city hotel, perfectly adequate for a night or two.
