Hotel in Amman

by TheAndos about Hotel Geneva, Amman, Jordan

This hotel is way out west on 7th circle. There are a couple of ATMs and sherwarma shops but not much else. However it is only a 2JD taxi ride to 3rd circle where you can eat. The staff were welcoming but note that no alcohol is served here. Our room was on the back and quiet, not luxurious but perfectly ok, big bathroom. Great breakfast buffet. Pool wasn't open.

There are no direct buses from Amman to Cairo. The easiest overland option is transport from Amman to Aqaba, ferry to the Sinai then bus to Cairo. But this will take more than a day, even with good connections.

Ive taken the JETT bus frm Amman direct to Cairo through Aqaba-Nuweiba(4years ago). If i remember correctly it was Jett bus. Ask the locals when you arrive Amman. Its a long and tiring journey.

Travel Tips for Amman

PDA's=ignorant

by shotgunsally

Jordanian culture is moving fast to "catch up" with the West, but religion makes this a very slow process. Many customs are in place to make life easier in their climate and families. When out in public with your boyfriend/husband/insignificant other don't hold hands unless you want you (the girl) or your wife to be looked at and jeered in Arabic by men and women alike. Making out in public is outright retarded. It's offensive to everyone (hell, even in Canada, this is considered tacky and disgusting, I will add...).
Holding hands with a person of the same gender is considered alright, however.

Flying Kites...

by THLIN

Well if you walk in residential area in Amman, you can easily find that people love flying kites on the top of their house. I have admitted that they are really good players of kites.
If you don't feel like doing anything, why not just sit and see people fly kites?! You will enjoy it a lot. Or you may also join their performance, I am sure that they are willing to teach you how to become a good kiter!!

To & From Syria

by Sambawalk

You can take JETT bus from Abdali Station to and from Damascus, Syria. The cost is JD5. This bus the bus that you can expect. The bus leaves 10am and 3pm daily and it takes about 4 hours for the whole journey, including the bording crossing. It is generally efficient. Remember there is JD5 for land departure tax where you need to pay before you get your departure immigration chop! There is an exchange counter inside the immigration building.

Royal Jordanian Airline

by Pakistaniguy

The Best way to come to Jordan is via Royal Jordanian Airline. It is just an okay airline. Not at all as bad as KLM is !!! I hate KLM because their aircrafts are old and very unreliable. But RJ is fine and getting better day by day. The service is fine too. They give you a lot of facilities as beign their passengers. If you have your next flight next day then they will give you a room in 4 star hotel and with all 3 meals !!! and in this way you can see Amman as well. But it is better to get the Visa before going there.
