Decent tourist hotel in Amman, Jordan
Appers to be a former 5-star hotel down on it's luck. Built in 1976 it badly needs a facelift as much of the woodwork, furniture and carpet appear worn - still comfortable enough and while the bed was firm the pillows seemed more like sacks of cement encased in fabric. You are greeted at the front door with plenty of security and even your bags are X-rayed. The staff however was both friendly and responsive.
Two stong tips if you decide to stay here: 1) Just north of the hotel is a mosque that uses really loud speakers for the daily calls to prayer ... if you like to sleep in ask for a room on the south side. 2) The hotel hosts a nightclub on the ground floor near the elevators, and the band used a lot of bass which echoed up to my room the 4th floor ... ask for a room near the front of the building away from the elevators.
