Nice tourist hotel in the town center.
by cachaseiro about Amra palace hotel.
The Amra palace hotel is a nice tourist hotel with many nice touches to it.
The rooms are pleasant and the dining room nice too.
There is a nice pool area and turkish bath with massage too.
I stayed there a couple of nights and quite liked the place, but be aware that it is located close to the biggest mosque in Wadi Musa, so you will get a free wake up call in the morning when the first prayer is due.
Also be aware that the hotel does not serve alcohol.
This is a good hotel if you wish to explore the own of Wadi Musa aswell as Petra.

Fine hotel 5 minutes from Petra
by PeteG about Amra Palace Hotel - Petra
Spent a couple of nights at the Amra Palace and it was very nice. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable, the showers worked well, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The double bed was huge.
The restaurant works on a buffet meal system which is pretty decent, and they also have a cook making pasta dishes to order should you want it. There is a turkish bath in the hotel grounds, and also a very nice indoor swimming pool which is just what is needed after a long day exploring Petra!
It is only 5 minutes from Petra and you can get a taxi from the hotel for 2JD.
There is a small souvenir shop in the hotel, and also an internet cafe.
Good value hotel
by paulams about amra palace hotel
I have read another review on this site about this hotel and was quite surprised as the twin room I stayed in had great views over the village and the mountains which allowed us to watch some fantastic sunsets. Amra Palace sits on the hill above the souk. As for the standard of room the bathroom was quite modern and the beds very comfortable.
For the price I considered this hotel great value compared to other hotels in this range. Indoor swimmimg pool and a turkish style bath with massage available which I found great after treking around Petra in the heat all day.
The breakfasts were nothing to write home about but sufficient and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Small, modest and 5 min' from Petra
by Sharon about Amra Palace Hotel
A month before this trip when i was about to travel independently with a few friends, i searched for hotel around Petra but never heard about this hotel, only about the bigger ones and better known ones (Movenpick, Taybet Zaman, Golden Tulip etc'..).
Only when i joined this trip a month later which was kind of organaized i asked where will we be staying and heard that name. Googling this name i couldn't find much info so thats actually why its the first tip i'm writing on this page (not sure when i'll write more) hopping it will help others when looking for acommodation.
The Amra hotel is a relatively Small hotel, Located in Wadi Musa, 5 minutes (Really) drive from Petra Site. Its not one of the posh hotels (like the Muvenpick or the Golden Tulip), Its basically very simple and very basic designed though pretty comfortable.
The Single rooms are small, personally i didn't have any interesting view from my room... just a window watching the building near by. The Single room contained two single beds, Small bathroom, TV, hair driere, closet and i think thats about it, pretty basic room. Night time was very cold so i tried to switch on the heating but it didnt work, just cooled the room ! I didnt feel like calling the reception and start this whole tiring thing since i was way too tired, so i just grabed the blankets that were on the second bed and that definitely warmed me. However, if you come on winter time i might want to check this detail before and make sure it works cause trust me, IT IS COLD there, actually not only on winter time, after all i was there on Aprl 8th and it was still cold, we didnt even expect that weather so some of us including my smart self didnt even have jackets !. ** Continue **
However, From a spoilt girl point of view i can tell you that If you'll be visiting there for one night like i did, this hotel should be absolutely enough for you. We arrived back from our day at the desert at around 6 - 7pm (and left the morning after at 9am) and we were sooooo tired we didnt care much about anything.... just needed shower food and sleep. The only thing i decided to do was to spoile my self a bit by going to the Khamam and enjoy one good treat. But thats a story for another tip.
If i would have come to enjoy there for a few days i'd definitely book a better hotel and enjoy a much more comfy rooms and other facilities that those hotels offer, but at this case i had no time anyway so as i mentioned before, it was quite good as is.
Another thing, the hotel Stuff was really polite and kind and made us feel very welcome.
Food at dinner and morning was okay, nothing spectacular though not bad. I know some of the people in my trip slept in another hotel (was fully booked when i booked my trip at the last moment) and enjoyed a great breakfast... but okay thats not such a big deal at this case so i think this hotel was really okay if you need a one night sLEEP than its absolutely okay.
Have a great trip :-)

Hotels and car hire in Jordan
by Spreeuw
Hello,
I've finally booked a flight for a two-week trip to Jordan from the last week of September. Would it be advisable to set out a route and book hotels in advance around this period? Has anybody had problems finding hotel rooms on the spot? I am planning to stay in the following places so if anyone can recommend hotels I should choose or avoid, I would be very grateful (I have no particular budget).
Amman
Dana
Petra
Wadi Rum
Aqaba
Dead Sea/Madaba
As far as longer trips from Amman are concerned, I may have to choose between the Desert Castles or Um Qais. Would I be missing out if I couldn't fit them both in?
And one final question. Does anyone have any car hire suggestions in Amman? I guess it would be sensible to stick to the large international companies such as Hertz or Avis.
Thanks very much for your help

A couple of years back I had no problem finding accomodation in October. Always the first guesthouse i went to had a room. Late September shouldn't be any different.
All the hotels i stayed in were good. The Mariam in Madaba was particulary nice. Also camping in the Rummana campsite in Dana is highly recommended!
No suggestions for car hire. I got around fine using busses and taxis.
This website is a great source of information on Jordan: http://www.jordanjubilee.com/
Really all you need to know is there.
Good luck,

I wouldn't worry if I were you....The hotels from 5+ stars to 1 star would be , most probably available at that time. (though you might get great deals if you book in advance)
You dont need more than 1/2 a day to visit Um Qais and you can visit the castles through a hotel tour. Camping and hicking in wadi rum and the reservation near by is great and Petra is really a wonder that you should not miss. Renting a car in Avis or Hertz is fine as long as you are an extremly good driver (or if you are turkish or italian1!!!!!)
Dont worry Jordan is safe, nice and pleasent to be in specaily around october, good luck
