Al-Rashid Hotel by Blatherwick The Al-Rashid is very good for the price. It is very clean, and the staff are really laid back. I paid 12 JD per night for a single room. Breakfast was included but the restaurant is so good that you may as well eat dinner there as well. They had satellite TV and hot showers as well. My room at the Amra palace hotel. by cachaseiro The Amra palace hotel is a nice tourist hotel with many nice touches to it. The rooms are pleasant and the dining room nice too. There is a nice pool area and turkish bath with massage too. I stayed there a couple of nights and quite liked the place, but be aware that it is located close to the biggest mosque in Wadi Musa, so you will get a free wake up call in the morning when the first prayer is due. Also be aware that the hotel does not serve alcohol. This is a good hotel if you wish to explore the own of Wadi Musa aswell as Petra. El rashid by PierreZA I was moved to this hotel in Wadi Musa, after the hotel I booked did not have a room available. The hotel is just of the round about in the middle of the town. Although the furbishing is very old, it is a clean hotel. Service was average. Breakfast was quite typical of Middle Eastern 3 star hotels. Although it is easy to walk down to Petra, the way back is uphill, and after a day at Petra it is easier to take a taxi, although it is a short distance. Single Room: 30 JD (breakfast included)

Pool overlooking mountains by stamporama The bed in our room was too firm, the pillow so thin. There's a mini-bar which was empty. The airconditioning seems to have a pre-set temperature as it wouldn't get cooler when you lower the thermostat. Bath towels are worn out and have tears. The worst part was finding someone's dirty underwear beneath your bed! Gosh, don't they clean up the carpets??? Word of caution: when you eat buffet at their resto, request that the bill be charged to your room. If you pay the waiter, he just tells you how much without showing you the tab. The amount he gives has at least a dollar extra pegged to it, perhaps as his personal tip. If you think he deserved it then give him anyway.
The pool is on a balcony that has a spectacular view of the Petra mountains where the ruins are located (see photo). This is the only thing nice to say about this place.

View from Petra Gate Hostel by tomhlavac Faye and I stayed at the Petra Gate Hostel at Wadi Musa in early November 06 - we felt more like guests than customers, thank you Nassar. This hostel's rooms are basic but very decent, our view was great looking towards the mountains (room was a double with private bathroom). 22 JD included a nice breakfast (this price for the two of us). Nassar drove us down to the Siq in the mornings, and arranged a tour to Wadi Rum. Very friendly hostel and very good value. by asmae1973 Nasser ,The owner, is a wonderful host, friendly and helpful, giving rides to Petra and directions to shops and cafes owned by locals. And his trekking advice for Petra was spot-on - the hikes he recommends are not in the guide books and led to a morning of solitude inside Petra, not another person sight for hours, just ruins. The evenings spent unwinding with him and other guests were very pleasant, and Nasser is not a bad oud player, either.
The rooms were clean, the water in the shower hot, and all requests were met quickly with a smile from the staff. Breakfast was cheap and easy, coffee and tea fresh and hot. The three nights spent with Nasser were the highlight of our two-week trip through Jordan. Time and money well-spent. Logo by Janani I was recommended this hotel on account of its location, quite near to the entrance of the historical site; towards the bottom of the hill (anyone who knows me could tell you that I can’t walk safely downhill!) although this does put it at a little distance from the area where the buses stop. I had a nice blue decorated room, of a reasonable size, furnished with low comfortable (firm ) beds, white cabinets and a matching desk with a small but very clean bathroom attached. There was no air conditioning in the room but, even in August, I didn’t find this a problem, perhaps because the hotel is in the shade throughout the afternoon. Included in the price was a breakfast each morning of coffee, local bread and jam and a fruit drink. Cheese and eggs were also available. The female staff working at the hotel were all from the Philippines and when I arrived, the owner mentioned how pleased he was with how well they look after everything there and I have to say that he was quite right and that all the people working there were very helpful too. Petra Moon Hotel by PierreZA I booked a room at this hotel about two months before my visit. Two days before I left South Africa, my room/reservation was reconfirmed by the hotel. The positive about this hotel is the location, extremely close to Petra entrance. On my arrival, I was informed that they do not have a room for me, but I will have to go to El Rashid. Although I was not very happy, I had no other option. On my arrival at El Rashid, they were not aware of me being sent there from Petra Moon. They were not sure as to the rates I have to pay etc. On my way to Petra, I went to Petra Moon Hotel to discuss my unhappiness with the manager. He had no explanation as to why I did not get the room I reconfirmed about three days ago. He promised me then 50% discount (=30JD), and daily transport from Wadi Musa down to Petra. When I checked out at El Rashid, the manager was not aware of the discount. After phoning the manager at Petra Moon, I got10 JD discount (they are cousins). So, I cannot recommend this hotel at all.

by Sambawalk The tent is set up right outside the hotel. It serves meals in the evenings, whilst during the day, you are free to stay there. It is a good place to see the sunset.

View from the Valentine Inn by graeme83 This is the main backpacker hangout in Wadi Musa. It is only a 2 minute walk from the Shaheed Roundabout at the top of the hill (about 5 mins from bus station). There is an amazing view of the valley from the balcony of the Valentine. The dorm rooms have good beds, but the rooms are quite cramped. There are though 2 shower/toilets in the dorm room. I can highly recommend the buffet dinner here. It will save you a lot of money (the restaurants in Wadi Musa are bad and very expensive) and there is a big selection. They can also organise onward travel for you to Wadi Rum, Aqaba or Amman.
