Petra Moon Hotel: Can't beat the location.

    • With an extremely large number of hotels in the Wadi Musa area to choose from, a budget traveler might find very little difference between many of the hotels. But for 15JD a night and a very short walk to the Petra Gate (100 meters), you can't ask for much more. Add on top of that a pleasant staff - both local and Filipino - as well as nice rooms that are spacious and clean and you've got a hotel I would reccomend to anyone to stay at.

    A small breakfast buffet is served from 6:30 to 9:30 am.

    Valley Stars inn: An Inn on the wrong side of town.

    • This Inn is right on the outskirts of Wadi Musa by the main roundabout in. It apears to be fairly new and was very well furnished and decorated but unfortunately time has not been good to this place. It is very good value. the breakfasts are typical of Jordan cold buffet.
    The rooms are noisy if you open the windows most rooms have free air con.
    there is a free shuttle to the enterance of Petra but it is unreliable.

    unfortunately you get a room and you share the lounge with the owner and her family. only thing outside is the stairs in and out. handy shop on opposite side of road to Inn. good restaurants about 5 mins walk in to town.

    The El Rashid Hotel is about 3km from Petra's entrance up on the hill at the city's center. The hotel itself has a grand lobby with a restaurant to the side. The staff is very friendly but may lack a little English. The rooms are very spacious and come with very comfortable beds, hot water, and satelitte TV. I was shocked to see Russian pornography when I turned the TV on! My TV watching was limited to BBC America as it was the only English channel out of 255. They had a new A/C unit hooked up but I couldn't find the controls for it.

    I just about summed it up in my stay discription. The only problem was the cost. I paid about 20JD a night which isn't much but my guide book says 13JD. My driver actually brought me here so it may be a commission charge... Still, I'm glad he got me within walking distance of Petra!
