    Tucked away in a quiet high end residential neighbourhood, the Albergo is one of Beirut's most distinguished hotels. An old luxury apartment building was converted into the Albergo and was decorated mostly with a local flavour, though every suite is unique. The hotel only offers suites, and just a small number of them. The staff is excellent and service is top quality. Staying here gives you the sense that you are back 100 years at some beautiful Levantine mansion.

    Rooms have wireless internet and there is a beautiful roof terrace with a small swimming pool. In addition, there is a well equipped health club nearby which hotel guests often utilise.

    The Albergo is a member of Relais et Chateaux, a group of small luxury hotels around the world with the highest standards.

    The Hotel Albergo is in the high-end Achrafieh neighborhood and is Beirut's only boutique hotel (for now!) Opened in 1998, it is a beautifully restored historic apartment building with just a few rooms on each floor, every one decorated in a different style. There is a public restaurant on the first floor and a lovely private restaurant and lounge on the ninth floor, where I had the best breakfast one could possibly imagine. The Albergo has a tiny pool and a comfy terrace on the roof also, with great views of the city from every angle.

    Service was excellent at this hotel. A few minutes after I checked in, someone came to my room to deliver a pitcher of fruit juice and a fabulous fruit basket that I snacked on for the next three nights (it was replenished daily). Every evening, lovely little individual sponge cakes shaped like roses were popped into the room for late-night treats. I did not go hungry for a single second in Beirut.

    • I enjoyed my stay so much in Albergo where you can just take a walk around the area of achrafieh. the hotel is only suites for those who like to pamper themselves.
