The Naseem hotel on the corniche in Muscat is for the budget traveller. Budget hotels are hard to come by in an Arabian capital but the Naseem is about as close as you will get to budget. It is a 2 start hotel and although it is a bit run down it does the job. It costs around 7 RO a night in low season and 9 RO a night in high season. It has a great location(5 minutes from the Souq) and if you want to have a few drinks on top of the Marina Hotel and get the views but require a budget place then Naseem is great. I personally think the rooms are bigger and and on par with the Marina and ask for the rooms facing the corniche because the views are stunning in the morning or at night. This two star option is clean, centrally located, small shop next door and a stone throw away from the souq. I always stay here when I go into the city for the night. Great.
They will bargain and if you are staying longer than 3 days in Muscat they will offer you 6 to 8 RO a night. (Cheapest in Muscat) Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveDirections: Near the Iranian ***e Mosque across from the Dhows and near the roundabout.

The Hotel Marina is in my opinion one of the best hotels in Muscat. It has super friendly staff that are willing at this point in time to give you a 20 RO a night double room during high season. Low season(between April and August) sees the rooms go down as low as 14 RO a night ($35 US). It is the highest building on the corniche makes it a great place to view the beautiful waterfront area. Great food and prices make this my favorite hotel in Muscat.
Great hidden restaurant on the rooftop terrace suitable for privacy. They negotiate prices daily and it is possible to get huge discounts in the off season. Look for the tallest building with a blue sign that reads 'Hotel Marina'

The Sharqiya Sands hotel located outside Ibra, Oman is a hidden gem in Oman. It has friendly staff and the Indian men in particular 'Larry' will show you a good time. They love to chat with visitors. They will give great discounts and you have access to the pool . It is a great place to stop between Muscat and Sur and it is currently 16 RO ( $50 US) a night. Overall, great service.

OK I shouldnt share this information because I dont want this privledge to be abused by every traveller but this option is for when you are lost or completely stuck for a cheap place. If you are looking for a budget option in any place in Oman then find the local Indian community and most Omanis know where they are found ie Ruwi in Muscat. Most Indian men know exactly where the budget accomd is located and you wont have to tip them. Go up to some Indian men in a souq and ask "Where can I find a cheap hotel ?" and they will 9 times out of 10 guide you to a cheap place. I cant guarantee the standard but I know these men are wizards at finding cheap but comfortable places to stay at night. The Chedi Pool by SalsaNikki We would sum it up by saying - If you ever get the chance you really must stay at this hotel! The Chedi is two years old (as at March 2004!) and is located just outside Muscat. It's a design hotel which reflects local architecture and mixes it with contemporary design. It features acres of limestone and pale walls, beautiful dark wood accents, arabeseque water gardens (they say you have to walk past seven water features to reach any room in the hotel - we didn't count but it wouldn't seem far off!) We stayed in a mid range room (there are three levels) and for that we got a huge bedroom with a sitting area, double sink and walk in shower enclosure. There are two pools (one for families, and one for adults) and a stretch of private beach. As well as your usual sun loungers there are great big 'double beds' by the pool that you can stretch out and sprawl on - very decadent! The restaurant was recently voted the best in Oman, and it really is an experience in itself (see our restaurant tip). It is the only hotel with a spa in Muscat, so you can add a massage if you're not relaxed enough already. Try the Balinese Bliss or Chedi Massage. The facial was wonderful too!!!!! The service was excellent - nothing was too much trouble and the staff were friendly and attentive but never intrusive.
The location, the style, the quality of the materials, the water gardens, the ambience, the staff, the food...... Incredibly relaxing! If you can't relax and enjoy this hotel then there isn't a hotel in the world where you will! The only downside is that it's so nice you don't want to leave and if you're not careful you won't see any of Oman as you'll never go outside. The only other minor drawback is that the hotel is under the flightpath to the airport, but the airport isn't busy and I can't say that we really noticed many planes! We've put some more pictures of The Chedi in our travelogue to try and give a flavour of what it's like. We almost don't want to tell anyone about it.....its too good to be everyone's secret!!!!!!!

The Majan hotel is near the Grand Mosque and it offers 3 or 4 pubs, health club facilites and a swimming pool. It is a bit overpriced in the summer but if you plan on staying for awhile then they will surely discount you. They recently elevated the price by 30% making this out of my weekly range but it is good value.

by tlcsha We were staying there for business, but what a wonderful place to relax between overnight trips. There was a great pool and nice beach. The only downside was that the lawn was crowded and it was difficult to find a chair that someone hadn't already left their towel on. We were there for New Years Eve and the hotel threw a spectacular party.
Average compared to other hotels in the area. Food was on the expensive side. Service was good. Great beachside promanade for sunset walks.

The Finest of Hotels by ecoquester Al Bustan Palace Hotel was voted in 1995 the Finest Hotel in the Middle East and took second place for the Best Conference Hotel Worldwide. Acknowledged regionally and internationally as the best, it would take a real expert to find fault with the staff, presentation, preservation and operation of The Albustan Palace Hotel.
Truly a better setting could never be found anywhere on this earth, just to look back from the beach to the hotel took my breath away. The beach was clear, clean and huge, the water crystal, but too hot for me....
