InterContinental Hotel Muscat

The InterContinental Hotel in Muscat is a dated, yet very nice hotel along the beaches of Al Qurum. The 6 floor hotel has 258 guest rooms with all of the basics such as TVs, alarm clocks, wired internet (no wi-fi), safes, blow dryers, free newspapers, coffee makers, and balconies in all rooms.

Inside the hotel you will find a several shops, an ATM, a business center, a car rental counter, and a concierge. Outside the main building, but on the property, you can lounge by on of the two pools, exercise at the gym, relax in the garden, rent scuba gear, play tennis, or head to the beach.

The hotel restaurants and bars are all pretty good. I enjoyed a decent meal at Trader Vics Indonesian-themed restaurant, and at the Tomato restaurant down by the pool. I also really like Al Ghazal Pub, one of the best bars in Muscat. The other restaurants that I didn't try include Senior Pico's Mexican restaurant, and Al Majlis Omani grill.

Room rates here are expensive, but you can enjoy all of the comforts of a European or American city right here in the hotel, or in one of the three malls close by.

Posh stay for the business traveler

The InterCon is not my typical class of hotel. But when I arrived, all other hotels were fully booked. The staff was kind enough to compare seasonal discount rates and my corporate rate and gave me the best deal.

The rooms are quite well decorated and very comfortable. The breakfast in the restaurant is top-notch, but expensive. If you manage to stay on the club levels, the club lounge buffet is rather small, but still of good quality.

The beds were quite comfortable and the A/C was quiet. The combination let me sleep well despite being 53C outside.

Unique Quality: The hotel has all the perks of staying at a quality place. There is an extensive foyer, several good restaurants (good, but on the expensive side). There is a pool, fitness center, business center, etc. My room had WiFi with no charge too.

Super nice!

Don't confuse the Intercontinental Muscat with the other one unless you have more money than you know what to do with!

Unique Quality: Beautiful open atrium design, the grounds are spectacular. two pools, tennis, private beach. There are a couple of nice restaurants, and a great bar. It's full of ex-pat brits and aussies with a nice British pub feel.

Best British Pub

I actually live across the street for the Inter. Conn. However I do frequent the hotel restaurants and the British Pub. The hotel is magnificant and is top notch. If you plan on staying here you btter be prepared to spend the $$$$$

The restaurants are high end in price but the food is so good it's good for a treat once in awhile. The buffet runs about 12.00 Rial and has evrything you could ever imagine. Hot, cold, salads, fruit, deserts and you can order liquor here.

The restaurants don't normally open until 7:00 and get busy around 8:30

Unique Quality: Top notch service, great atmosphere and the pub is upstairs for a quick drink before dinner.
The pub opens at 6:00 and happy hour goes until 7:30 unless you get to know the bartender then it's longer. Prices for a pint of Becks as example is 1.70 Rial during Happy hour then goes up to 2.20 afterwards. Always drink specials to be had so...Wednesday nites are all you can drink wine for the ladies after 9:00.

It's a good place to watch sports until around 8:00 then their is usually some form of entertainment going on. Usually the drunk Omanis....

More about InterContinental Hotel Muscat

Relax at the resort.

by tlcsha about Intercontinental Hotel Muscat

We were staying there for business, but what a wonderful place to relax between overnight trips. There was a great pool and nice beach. The only downside was that the lawn was crowded and it was difficult to find a chair that someone hadn't already left their towel on. We were there for New Years Eve and the hotel threw a spectacular party. Average compared to other hotels in the area. Food was on the expensive side. Service was good. Great beachside promanade for sunset walks.

Great Hotel!

by Prole about InterContinental Muscat

This is a really nice hotel; our room was large and well-appointed, the facilities are nice, most rooms have great views of the sea, and the service is good. We really enjoyed our stay here. The InterContinental Muscat is one of those hotels that has something for everyone, whether your single, a couple, a family or a businessperson. The restaurants are decent, and the swimming pools are nice.

Recently refurbished, this fine beachside hotel offers visitors the expected InterContinental luxury with a host of new facilities. Located in the commercial district of the city, there is an eclectic mix of dining options befitting the cosmopolitan nature of Muscat. The in-house English pub, authentic Mexican restaurant and Mediterranean grill are highly recommended. Water sports, mountain and dune safaris, tennis and billiards are among the leisure options. It is Located in At Quram Beach. and near to it u can find some nice Resturant and Al-Fair Supermaket plus some cafe shops.

Beach in Muscat Intercontinental Hotel

by AbuDhabi

Greetings,

Does Muscat Intercontinental Hotel have a private beach? If not, what the closest hotel to the Intercontinental has?

In other words: I want a hotel with a private beach in Al Qurum Area.

Regards,

The hotel has a private garden area with a pool for sunning. As far as I could see none of the hotels there had any private beach. There are walls around the European Style hotel gardens for privacy. The beaches were all open that I saw, beautiful sand, no people. In the evenings families would walk along the beach but other than that nobody was around.

The intercon has no private beach, infact none of the hotels in Qurum have a private beach. The closest you will get is the Crowne Plaza who`s beach becomes private when the tide is in.
Only the Chedi,Al Bustan and Banadar Jissa resort have private beaches to speak of.
