Muscat Dunes Hotel: Hotel or apartment
This hotel is situated in a newly developing area between Al kuwair and Al Bawsher. A number of building sites are near by so the area is noisy with workmen banging away.
My husband stayed one [expensive] night and then moved into an apartment belonging to the hotel, almost next door. The hotel itself looks very nice and has a swimming pool and gym on the 6th floor, which can be used freely by those in the apartments. Ladies can use the pool from 1-5 pm. Men have use from 7-1 and from 5-11, I think.
A boy cleans the apartment when we require it and also changes the sheets and duvet.
There is a sitting room, two bedrooms, two baathrooms and a kitchen which has a fridge/freezer, 4 ring gas cooker and a washing . The latter is on the small adjoining balcony. There were only 2 tea glasses and 2 drinking glasses, and two spoons and forks and an electric kettle. we had to provide everything else.
The building next door was noisy, and the new Shisha and Coffee house on the ground floor were noisy at night, and patrons used the parking spaces in spite of notices.
Across the road is a small convenience store which has juices, canned drinks, water, milk, croissants, pastries, sweets and basic supplies.

Naseem Hotel in Mutrah: Naseem Hotel
Naseem Hotel is a budget hotel in the Mutrah area of Muscat. One bedroom and a bathroom. The price was 16 rials (44 USD) for a double bed room. Satellite-TV/aircondition/hot water. Breakfast is not included, but you can eat breakfast for 2 USD at the cafe next door. The location in front of the harbour is nice. Ask for a room with the sea view. The hotel entrance is at the right side passage. It looks a bit spooky on the outside, but it's nice inside. The staff is friendly. I stayed two days at this hotel, and can recommend this place.

Mina Hotel in Mutrah: Mina Hotel
Mina Hotel is a budget/mid-range hotel in the Mutrah area of Muscat. One small bedroom with a bathroom. The price was 25 rials (68 USD) for a double bed room. The location in front of the harbour is nice. Make sure to get a room with balcony and sea view. Note that this place is noisy. Samakah Roundabout is only 30 metres away and a mosque is also 30 metres away. I was at the hotel, but I didn't stay here. I can recommend this place.

Al-Fanar Hotel in Corniche Mutrah: Al-Fanar Hotel
Al-Fanar Hotel in Corniche Mutrah was the cheapest hotel I found in the Mutrah area of Muscat. One small bedrom with a bathrom. The price was 10 rials (27 USD) for the old rooms and 15 rials (40 USD) for renovated rooms. The location on the left side of the harbour is nice and the view from the hotel is good. But the rooms were small and not nice. Two teenage boys sat in the reception when I arrived the hotel. They couldn't answer my questions and gave me little confidence about the hotel. I was at the hotel, but I didn't stay here.

ASAS OMAN Hotel Apartment: ASAS hotel apartment muscat
We were a huge group that stayed in huge 3 bedroom royal suite of ASAS hotel apartment in Oct 2007. Accomodation was decent. Services were ok. Staff was polite but not well trained. I had trouble calling for taxis from the hotel. Qurum beach is just 5 mins. I paid 85 Omani Riyal per night

Qurum Beach Hotel
This hotel is located next to the Holiday Villa Hotel which I stayed. Apparently, it is not too expensive and is conveniently located about 10 minutes walk from the famous Qurum Beach of Muscat.
