Perfect accommodation and gracious hospitality.

Accommodation in Muscat is not cheap. There is very little available that falls into the 'mid-range' catagory. Luxury hotels are plentiful, but cost above OMR150 per night (which converts to approx A$450.00) per night. A lot of money.
We were very fortunate to find the Nomad Guest House. I pre-booked it online months before our stay, and it was a delight staying there. We were collected at Dubai airport by Chris and Lorna, who own Nomad Guest House, and driven to Muscat...........something that I will always appreciate.
Nomad is a large converted mansion, it is the second and latest B&B that they have opened. Efficiently run by a sweeet lady name Myrna, we were welcomed into our large, cool marble-floored double room on the second floor. I was ecstatic at the sight of the huge ornate four-poster bed and spa-bath in the excellent and well lit bathroom.
The furnishings are typically ornate, and colour scheme of lime green walls ...........well, we got used to that. Everything else was so comfortable.
The rooftop has a great area with chairs & tables which is perfect for a sundown drink or snack, and we made good use of this area.
The breakfasts, served from 8am to 10am, were very special. Fresh fruit juices, fresh bread rolls, toast & preserves as well as eggs (boiled, fried or scrambled), fried tomatoes, sausages.
Cereals - 3 choices. Filter coffee and a selection of teas. The diningroom has a large table chich was beautifully laid out with good crockery and gleaming silver cutlery. Myrna cooks the breakfasts herself to your specifications.
Guests are also welcome to buy their own supplies and have free use of the well-planned kitchen and appliances.
Wi-Fi is available, and free.
Our room had a large flat-screen television and telephone.

The only drawback regarding the guesthouse was that it was quite difficult to find. Fortunately our initial arrival was with Lorna & Chris- but after Richard & I ventured out ourselves, we found that every taxi we hired to return had great difficulty getting us home. The streets do not have names- only numbers, and even with GPS, the drivers were lost for ages. And most did not speak English. .
There are a number if good restuarants and some shops within a 5 minute walk from the Nomad.
There is a tour-desk with good suggestions in the lobby- Lorna & Chris run tours to Wahiba Sands and other areas. They also organize various trips on their luxury yacht 'Shamsa'.

Unique Quality: Loved the rooftop area- magnificent sunset views.
The four-poster bed was very comfortable.
The spa-bath.............what more can I say?
Heaps of packing space
Good lighting
The cleanliness
The friendly and helpful Myrna- a gem.

Cool marble floors
Air-con worked well
