We stayed in Nizwa twice - in 2005 and 2009.
Nothing has changed: good old Nizwa with its kind and polite people, picturesque fort and souq, and Falaj Daris Hotel, a very pleasant place to stay.
First time we stayed in a standard room. Well, nothing special, but no complaints either.
In 2009 we booked what they call a "suite room". There are 2 of those in Falaj Daris.
Ours was a 1-bedroom suite called "Tanuf Suite" with 1 king bed, sofa in the living room, 2 LCD TVs, very spacious.
It has 2 entrances: main one is 10 meters away from the pool, and back door leads to a private parking allocated to this suite.
Good option for families with 2 kids, full comfort and price just USD30 more than the one for standard room.
Unique Quality: Excellent and not really expensive "suite rooms",

Location: 5 minutes drive to Nizwa downtown (fort, souq).

This great hotel offers 50% discount to travellers from April to August. It has two swimming pools, a gym and a bar. The rooms are pleasant and the friendly staff can organize trips to the surrounding mountains.

The Falaj Daris Hotel is a comfortable and nice hotel located about 5 minutes drive from the Nizwa town centre, and is considered as one of the best hotels in Nizwa. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool, friendly staff and a very nice poolside buffet at night.

The evening poolside buffet at the Falaj Daris Hotel is very good because of the delicious food and the very nice embiance of the surroundings. This is a must try if you are in Nizwa and will cost you about 4-5 Omani rials per person.
The swimming pool at the Falaj Daris Hotel is very nice and a lot of hotel guests can be seen swimming there in the evenings. Being an Islamic country, it is not possible to wear clothings which are too revealing in Oman. However in the hotel swimming pool, the guests are allowed to wear swimming costumes and in a way they feel less restrictive here than outside.
