Marna House

The choice of places to stay in the Gaza Strip is rather limited, and the prices tend to be quite high for this impoverished land. (Obviously, most people who stay in hotels are foreign diplomats, journalists, etc., and not the Palestinians who often survive on less than 3 dollars a day) I stayed in Marna House - a neat small hotel near the sea coast in Gaza City, clean, with friendly stuff and an excellent quiet airconditioner. The cost was 50 US dollars a night.

Picture 2: I asked a Palestinian friend to show me around a refugee camp. It turned out that that the task was not easy even with the help of local people: once you get there, you are immediately surrounded by children. At first, just a few of them, but in a few minutes, the crowd numbers dozens. The children look friendly and somehow fascinated by your presence, but they do beg you for money, and follow you wherever you go.

Picture 3: A rare example of non-political graffiti at the Gaza City harbour.

Picture 4: Now it's time for Palestinians in Gaza to learn that LG is there to "put them first"...

Picture 5: One of the nicer areas of Gaza City, close to Islamic University.
