Kalya Holiday Village: Kibbutz Accommodation near the Dead Sea

We spent a very enjoyable family weekend based in the Kalya Holiday Village. It consists of several one-floor pavilions with lawns and gardens surrounding them, in the traditional kibbutz-style accommodation. The rooms are quite modest but comfortable. They are equipped with TV, a small refrigerator and a coffee set. Each room has a porch and a private garden with barbecue facilities, and it was a pleasure to have our family dinner in the garden (except for the resident cats, who got a bit annoying when they smelled the meat aromas wafting around).
A generous and healthy breakfast is served in the kibbutz dining hall, a 3 minute walk from the rooms. Dinners can also be ordered in the dining hall. This type of accommodation lets you get a taste of kibbutz life; after the Friday night dinner they had a spontaneous folk-dancing session for the kibbutz members, and everyone was welcome to join in.

There is a beautiful outdoor swimming pool , open from spring to fall.
When you stay in the holiday village you get free admission to the nearby Kalya Beach on the Dead Sea, and discount vouchers for nearby attractions (Qumran archaeological site, Ein-Fashkha nature reserve). Horse-riding and ATV trips can be arranged at the hotel reception, and there are possibilities for massages and various holistic treatments.
The staff was very nice and helpful to us.

Unique location near the Dead Sea, combined with a glimpse into kibbutz life.
