Where to visit in Doha for 8 hours

by kit1

Hi,

I will be in transit in Doha for 8 hours on or about 14 November 2008. Any ideas what I can do in Doha while on transit. How long does it take and how much is it to get to the city centre from the airport.

Will be grateful for your help.

8 hours... I suggest you hole up in the quiet room in the airport and try to get some sleep. You can get to City Centre for about fifteen riyals, but -- haven't you ever seen a shopping mall before?

Hi there,

If you will fly with Qatar airways, and transit time in Doha is over 4 hours, the airways offer a free city tour, or a free hotel room with a free bus. Contact to the employees after you land at the airport. Good luck!

Travel Tips for Doha

Tea or drink

by shala_booo

Everytime you are offered a drink in an office or house, it is an insult to refuse a tea or a drink.
When you are done and you don't want another, shake the tea cup handle from side to side to let them know you are done and dont want another.

jeep safari in dunes

by iyigun

Jeep safari: 4 wheel drives you every top and bottom of the sand dunes,
Organizations are made through travel-tourism agencies, it is a dangerous thing to travel just by your own jeep: u can be lost or pass some close border unwillingly, get the car stuck in sand (can easily happen) or an unwanted mechanical problem may occur.
ı have been in an all inclusive tour that contains
jeep with professional driver,
unlimited food and drinks (allright),
private sandy beach with shower and other facilities,
chance to try sandskiing,
motor ride ın the beach and up and down in the dunes by myself.
That was a beautiful day.
Do not forget to use a sunscreening cream... sunglasses
bikinis ; )
water to be handy at anytime 1 Litre
sunscreening cream, a Must!
towels.
thats it.

Sealine Beach Resort

by bpwillet

Just south of Doha is a town called Mesaieed. If you can manage going a little farther along the road you will come to a turn off for Sealine Beach Resort. It is well worth the trip and the facilities that they have are well worth the trip. 20QR to enter the resort and and use the pool and beach. Other activities are priced differently from their long list.

Enjoying a night out in Doha

by drloove98 about Amigos

I don't know it yet, but they say it exists, was started up recently in one of the hotels. My tip is to look for it because it would be the only one in this place. Going for what you like is more or less the go in this place, provided that it is not too revealing, for both sexes.

Too much time..

by bpwillet

I would be inclinded to write about the driving in Doha as one of the dangers of the city. But once you get used to it, it really isn't that bad. But you must not move your car if you are in an accident and you will have to pay for your ticket from the police (about 30QR). But if you are like this gentleman, you may just cause an accident or at least turn some heads!
