I didn't stay here, but rather attended a VT Meeting with 'RinaNeoh' and 'Jungles' here one evening. I can say that it's a decent location, along the water. They have their own beach, and some delicious food in the restaurants downstairs.
I also had some Sushi in the Asian restaurant, it was pretty good! But the Thai food wasn't.
This was the nicest Marriott I think I've ever stayed in. The staff was all very friendly, the rooms were great, big, clean, the grounds were very nice. The beach wasn't the greatest but the pool was beautiful. As far as the hotel itself is concerned, I would definitely recommend the Doha Marriott. The location however isn't the greatest. It's south of town, and it's a long walk to get into the city, and it's on the total opposite side of town from the new part of the city where a lot of business happens. A taxi to that side of town can be pretty pricey. I also found that the room service was actually affordable and reasonable.
Although I didn't want to swim in the water, the beach is nice - it's quiet, has great sunsets and lounge chairs. The pool area is beautiful. The hotel has several restaurants, one with an all you can eat buffet (for about US$35!!)
Directions: Along the water on the south side of town. Not terribly far from the airport, but a long walk from the Corniche, and a 15 minute cab ride to the north side of town where all the new high rise buildings are going up.
