a cosy comfortable hotel
We chose this 26-storey tower hotel for the price - there was a special offer for 600 rials - which was more or less the same price as some 3 stars hotel in the centre. I would not normally choose a 5 stars hotel but the price was too tempting.
Moevenpick Tower and Suites is located at the entrance to West Bay, so it's not very central but the area is fairly quiet and there's not a lot of traffic. There are plenty of building sites in the area but insulation is excelent and you won't hear any noise.
Unique Quality: The room we had, on the 10th floor, was very spacious and clean - it even had a fully furnished kitchenette... the bed was ultra-comfortable and the room had high-speed Internet access. There's also round-the-lock room service.
The hotel hasa cafeteria and two restaurants, wok me and animato - where breakfast is served at an extra charge. As it is quite expensive, I would not recommend it, unless you are used to eating large portions of food in the morning. For a simple coffee and croissant the cafeteria in the hall is more than sufficient and better value. We did not eat in the retaurants so I can't comment on that - all I know is that they are alcohol-free.
In case you want to kick back a little, or if it gets a bit cold (that's our case) on the 26th floor there's an indoor swimming pool and a health and wellness centre: while the swimming-pool is mixed, note that the wellness centre (steambath, sauna, whirlpool) has separate locations for men and women. In case you are interested there's also four massage rooms and a beauty centre with acceptable prices. We saw that massages are offered at 200 rials.

Doing it in style - thanks to Qatar Airways!
We were put up in this amazing hotel by the lovely Qatar Airways on our trip home to Australia!
Service was great, rooms were large, new, clean and very very comfortable! The highlight though was the buffet lunch and dinner. We were there for seafood night – incredible!! A huge selection of food, all cooked to perfection, a variety of cheeses and a smorgasbord of desserts! Make sure you book for dinner though. We forgot and ended up having to wait until 9:00pm to eat! Well worth the wait

Accordingly to the Mövenpick standards
Not a bad one, but I expected more from the pools considering the category of the hotel. There is only a small swimming pool, in shade in the afternoon... In this climate it is not enough.

Great middle of the road pick...
The Movenpick is a chain of Swiss hotels found through out the world. The one located in Doha is not as flashy as the Ramada or the Sheraton located along the Corniche. I prefer the Movenpick because you get a great room with exceptional customer service and it seems like they actually appreciate your business more than the larger hotels. They also have an outstanding breakfast menu with an in house chef that can prepare special meals for you. Theire in-house restaurant has special nights (such as Steak night and Chinese night) and the best by far is the Italian night. And I used to live in Italy! So choose the Movenpick for a low key, high quality stay.
