Riding ATV's

I was very reluctant at first to participate in an activity like this. I had no real desire to do it. But after we got going it was a lot of fun. We all tried our best not to get stuck or to flip over--unless it was intentional. It really was a lot of fun and we were the envy of our entire group.

If you're spending some time in the region, and want to make the most of your vist. Pick up a copy of Marhaba Magazine. Of all the guidebooks, it's the premier Qatar Guide & Information Magazine
Marhaba also produces the most useful Maps of Doha and Qatar.
They can usually be found at Hotel giftshops, or at the information booth at Carefour Mall.
Burzan Tower
by bpwillet
This tower was once attached to the fort directly across from it. It is in a unique architectural style almost forming a "T" also from the 18th century. It is accessible through the town of Umm Salal Mohammed and will be easily visible when you pass through the town.
Gold digging...
by bpwillet about Any
Some of the things that Qataris have been known for is their pearls. The industry really took off for Qatar and put them on the map. They are sold in some very upscale mall stores at the Hyatt Plaza mall or City Center (Carrefour) malls but the souqs may have a better price selection. Haggling is accepted but within reason. Every shop owner appreciates good business. There are a number of shops to choose from in the area so if jewlery and finer objects are on your list this is the place to go. You can go shopping for all kinds of qualities of pearls and colors (black, white, pink, yellow) for quite affordable prices. There is also a great selection of gold, silver, precious stones and some near-real high end watches. Some of the stores are specific as well. In other words you can go to a shop where all they sell is gold items, or all they sell is pearls.
THE ORYX LOUNGE

Trapped in Doha Airport? Long layover, but not enough time to get out of the Airport? Or do you just want to look cool being greeted at the Arrivals Hall with your name on a sign held by a beautiful young lady. And you get to jump the entire queue at Security. If that was not all, you get all the food and drink you want, comfortable sofas, free internet services and you can sleep stretched out. The price is economical as well.
The Bad Part
• They do not make it easy to book. The booking form is hellish and you have to send a copy of your Credit Card, front and back!
AND…..
• NO ALCOHOL. How bizarre. You can buy loads in Duty Free which is all of 3 meters from the door. Sneak it in. I did. Just watch out. Some staff enforce the rules more that others! And they do not have a corkscrew for wine.
PLEASE NOTE: You can book the Lounge even if you fly Economy
