Riyadh Palace is a first class hotel. However, it does not include breakfast in its tariff. There are places to eat though- La Fontaine Restaurant; Le Bleu coffee shop. There is also 24 hour room service.
I found it very comfortable and made good use of the pool everyday.
There is also a gym, tennis and squash courts, and billiards.

Saudi Arabia is a desert land where you may expect to live in a tent, lol.
However, it's got a variety of prestigeous international and local hotels, such as Hilton, Sheraton, Marriot, Faisaliah, Khozama and other.
Prices usually depend on the season whether Umra or Hajj.
Range: SR70-SR500 for 4 or 5 stars for average-service rooms.
So always save SR250 per night as an average price.

- Mosque

This hotel is exactly opposite the Madinah mosque. There is nothing between you and the mosque's border. The view from the rooms facing the mosque make a great background for your breakfast or when you are just relaxing in your room.
Closeness to the Mosque.
Great view.
An excellent hotel close to the Haram. The hotel is on the quieter side of the Haram hence going back and forth is somewhat easier. It is also closer to Bab-As-salam (Gate 23).
The best rooms of the hotel overlook the Haram and are nice and clean.
The staff are very helpful and the buffet breakfast is excellent. Make sure you ask for your fresh orange juice and omelette.
Very close to quiter, Marwa side of the Haram.
Excellent buffet breakfast.
Easy car access and parking.
Very comfortable hotel. I really liked the fact that there was separate small office area in the room - set up for modem and fax; and there's a 24 hour business office.
Nice restaurant (good Lebanese-style food) and also a coffee area where one can meet with people and have fairly private conversations.
The only downside - has to do with the restrictions on women - there is a pool, and exercise room - but when I visited, no women were allowed to use them, so I can't comment. There is also a golf course - and the card in my room read that ladies were not welcome, sorry; but someone told me that she had used the facility.
My suggestion to the hotel would be to set up
at least a small exercise room for women-only.
Only other quibble was that it was very busy in the evening and took a bit of time to check out.
Hotel is rated 4 star - not sure what the normal rate is; quite affordable for me - thanks to all.
We checked in to Le Meridien in Medinah, KSA for an overnight stay. As non-Muslims, it was the only place we could stay in Medinah. It's a nice enough hotel, with trappings of elegance, but was actually a bit neglected.
It was beautifullly decorated, with plants, and marble, and fountains. However, as one gets past the outward appearance, one starts to notice that the paint is peeling, there's a lot of dust, the carpet is frayed in places, the molding is dirty...things like that.
Oveall, I'd say it was satisfactory, but it wasn't great, or worth the over $100 we spent for the night's stay.
Interior courtyards with fountains and fake plant gardens.

In KSA, westerners live in walled-off compunds, completely shut off from Saudi society.
Main reasons for this: security of westerners with past/current anti-westerner sentiment; and so they are able to offer as western an environment as possible, especially for women.
Some compounds have Arabs living on them as. While some hospital compounds combine Westerner/Arab/Saudi nationals, and therefore rules can be slightly more strict, for example, women may be prohibited from wearing bikinis, shorts, singlets etc.
Most employees find that their place of employment will include accommodation as part of their contract.
According to Saudi law - unaccompanied women must live in a compound. Single/unaccompanied men may live in apartments etc.

Every place I stayed was an international chain. Views from my rooms were typically as below.
Over US$$150/night
Nice pool, reasonable rooms

Q: Saudi traveling to US - Security Processing "Greetings! I have a friend/business partner who would like to do some traveling in the United States. He is a Saudi citizen..."
A: "The answer is that your friend cannot count on any "typical" scenario. He could be in and out of immigration in five minutes, or it could take 50 minutes, or 5 hours, or..."
