Old but comfortable

I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel because I was unable to get a reasonably priced booking for the Jeddah Le Méridien, which is much closer to the commercial core of the city. As a general note for any hotel in Jeddah, prices skyrocket the closer you get to the Hajj, and the availability of rooms plummets. The Sheraton is an older hotel, one that dates from the days when the Saudis sought to keep foreign visitors corralled in closer together and fairly far from the areas inhabited by the citizens. The hotel is in a nice, quiet area along the northern corniche, but is not really close to any sort of amenities. As a platinum member, I was lucky enough to be able to have a suite in the hotel, which afforded me an extra sitting room. The room was clean and comfortable, but old, with fittings in the bathroom and the bedroom from the 80s. I was shocked to discover that the sitting room also came with PAL VCR. Given that films are banned in Saudi Arabia, I was a bit perplexed by the purpose of this piece of equipment. Ambience? The hotel caters to a number of airline companies, and it is fairly lax on the mixing of men and women, particularly in the lounge and restaurant areas. There is a nice garden out back of the hotel, as well as a large restaurant that is detached from the hotel.

Unique Quality: Without a doubt, the view from the upper floors is the best aspect of this hotel. You can see, literally, for miles down from the balcony along the corniche. The furniture and décor in the hotel was also pretty funny, although I can't really say that they were unique qualities. Oh, and the fact that they're not uptight about mixing of the sexes. It sounds weird, but in Saudi Arabia that's definitely a unique quality.

Jeddah Sheraton

Located on Jeddah's North Corniche, Jeddah Sheraton Hotel has spectular views of the Red Sea.
The hotel offers a serene environment yet is close to major shopping centres such as Hera'a Mall and is a twenty-minute car ride to the modern city center and King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The hotel is unique in design, the main green glass tower has a futuristic look that is unmatched in the city. The landscape is beautiful with a palm-fringed esplanade and majestic fountains at the entrance. Rooms face the water, offering panoramic views of the coastline and breath-taking seaside sunsets.
Guests can utilise the usual facilities: swimming pool, tennis, squash court, health club, shops, hair salon, and an Executive business center.
Red Sea diving expeditions are also available.

Unique Quality: Xian Gong serves authentic Chinese cuisine, prepared by chefs from Beijing. Set among luscious foliage overlooking the Red Sea, the Tropical Garden serves barbecue dishes. The Al Waha continental dining room remains open throughout the day until midnight, serving international cuisine, table d'hote menus, oriental favorites and chef's specials.

A view of th sea

This hotel is only few minutes drive from my house,it has a prime area location and it is one of the first hotels in Jeddah at the sea front.Built in 1989 but renovated in 2002.
It is a 11 story building,with 202 rooms.

Unique Quality: It has (like all five star hotels)luxurious rooms and suites.but it also has small villas or condominium for large families or groups.
