Walaikum Salam..

Taxi will be a bit expensive, will range between 300-500 riyals, imo, but you can always get a good deal if someone is going empty seated...

You can always try SAPTCO buses, very cheap - around 35 riyals - and discount if you buy return ticket, located just outside Haram, so not that hasslesome, however the Madina bus station is a bit far from Haram (30 minutes walk), but plenty of taxis available there. Bus is not that difficult assuming that you are on pilgrimage...

Keep me in your prayers....

Travel Tips for Mecca

People from all over the globe!

by marimar_72

In Makkah you get to inter-act with other people from all over the world, when standing inline next to each other to pray at Makka`s mosque, the rich, the poor, the white and the black all standing together.
Makkah`s Mosque(Al Masjid Al Haram) can accupy about 2.000.000 people or more at once,,,it is huge! In all the times I went to Makkah`s mosque or as we call it (Al-Masjid Al-haraam)i remember the time I first took my seven years old daughter to preform Umrah with me,it was her first time to fast in Ramadan(the month of fasting to all Muslims)she was quite excited about it(tired though)but very excited knowing that she will be greatly rewarded from Allah.
The other time I remember is going at the mosque but not in Ramadan month and it was a lot less crowded,I got the chance to kiss the Noble Rock(we don`t worship the rock itself but it is believed by Muslims that is a piece of heaven). It`s called the black rock(Al Hajar Al Aswad).

Jabal Thur One Of The Historical Sites

by imran8852

There’s a cave in this mountain where Muhammad s.a.w and his dear friend Abu Bakr took refuge from the pagans of Mecca who tried to kill them. They stayed in the cave for three days before migrating to Medina. Jabal Thur is about 5km from Masjidil Haram. It takes about 2hrs to climb up the mountain. Words Are Not Enough To Describe My Feelings.

Arafat

by uglyscot

On the day before the Eid, pilgrims move from Mina to mount Arafat where they will stay until sunset. They pray, read religious texts and ask for blessings.Ttents, canvas this time, are erected for shelter. As soon as the pilgrims move at sunset, the tents are dismantled and the area is abandoned until the following year. Our bus broke down, so we had to wait several hours for a replacement, and it was fascinating to watch the place where almost 4 million people were gathered being left bare of habitation - apart from the tons of litter.
Pilgrims then move on to Muzdelifa where they spend the night on the street or in the buses, and have to collect the small stones to throw at the devil.

Masjid - Al Haram

by Pakistaniguy

The most famous non-Muslim who somehow managed to visit Makkah and participate in the Hajj in 1853, was the famous British explorer Richard Burton. He distinguished himself as an Afghan Muslim and entered Makkah. I do not know what Saudi Government did with him after that but he came here this is what i know. If you are a non-muslim, i would request you to never try something like this. Saudi's are not bad people at all but do not push them to exercise their laws.
