tourist hotel: chez madame olga
  • Tip Rating:
  • Wonderful incredible multilingual staff - and extra-clean rooms. A really comfortable place to stay only 15 minutes walk from the Old Town. And there's a fun old black and white TV in the rooms, which should deserve to be placed in a museum (but it works). Madame Olga is the semi-paralitic french-speaking owner - she's a real institution, everyone knows her in Aleppo - and she's always happy to exchange a few words with the passing traveller.

a cosy spacious room with tiny balcony. No private bathroom, but the staff were always busy cleaning the showers and toilets. Impossible to get them cleaner... they were sparkling!

Hotel Beit Wakil: Great hotel , comfortable, quiet, great location
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • I really enjoyed my stay here. It was such a nice cozy comfortable hotel. It is an old arabic house and is decorated as such. My room although was a little small, but was comfy and extremely quiet. The bathroom was really nice, all tile and marble. The hotel had a nice restaurant and also a little bar downstairs too which was nice to sit and have a relaxing glass of wine. I plan on staying here again next time I am in Aleppo......

Quiet...stylish, wonderful place. Very helpful staff...The hotel is located down a very old street and around it are many shops and restaurants...its a wonderful hotel, i loved it here.

Bait Wakil Hotel: The best hospitality I have ever experienced
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Beit Wakil is a 450-year-old building that has been faithfully restored to its original form. The courtyard is amazing, as is the lobby. Habib, the hotel manager, is very friendly and helpful. If you need something and the hotel does not have it, they will send someone to get it for you. For example, I asked them where I could find a phone card. Twenty minutes later someone from the hotel brought one to my room. Upon arriving, I asked Habib where I could find an ATM. He gave me directions, but he also borrowed me 2,500 Syrian pounds, which is about $50. I did not ask for it, he just gave it to me.

The rooms are simple, but Habib explained that he wanted guests to have as much of an authentic experience as possible. He wanted the building to look like it did 450 years ago, with a few added luxuries such as air conditioning and full-size bathrooms in each room. The breakfast, which is included in the price, is very good. Rooms go for $100 per night, plus 11-percent tax.

  • This hotel is one of the cheapest place for backpackers and budget travellers. Although outside is not appealing, few of the rooms are quite impressive. You can stay on the roof top for SP120 or a room with toilet for SP300.

BEIT WAKIL: Boutique Hotel   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • A stunning 16th century mansion in Jdeidah Quarter has been converted into this boutique hotel with only 14 rooms. The lofty lobby is domed and has vaulted ceilings and the walls are of stone, all of which gives a certain monastic feeling to the hotel. The rooms are decorated with a local flavour and the staff is friendly and helpful. Although the service could be improved a little, I nevertheless found my stay most enjoyable and would stay here again. The hotel is located in the charming neighbourhood of Jdeidah, in a narrow alley not directly accessible by car. The hotel staff will assist in transporting the luggage.

The hotels restaurant (also called Beit Wakil) is one of the best and most famous in Aleppo.

    Tourist Hotel Aleppo,
    Room # 13

Stay there 2X1 night. Ask both time for a single room but the management was not too keen on giving me a single room so they ask me to pay more for a double room though single occupancy, no breakfast. Paid 700 SYL or 13,5 USD. Room was clean and tidy with airco (was not given the remote control but at that season no need of airco)and ceiling fan. Get room # 13 and # 3. similar location on different floor.

In downtown, near Baron Hotel. Easy access to restaurant, internet café and sights. If you need new tyres for your car, this is the place to stay.

Amir Palace or Mirage Palace: a typical 4 star hotel stay "spiritless"
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is a hotel that exists almost anywhere in the world. a tall building with many rooms that look the same. The hotel is located in the center of the city, very close to the old town (where most of the attractions are located) and also close (about 700m) to the bus station. I was booked there by a travel agent, I wish now I stayed somewhere else. Somewhere that could have provided a look into the more traditional accomodations that arabs are known to have had created "the arabic house"

a standard 4 Star hotel The hotel is very clean. The staff is fairly efficient when it comes to room service and providing info. Close to Damascus bus station. Breakfast is nice.

Diwan Ramsy Hotel: Stay in a 15th-century home
  • Tip Rating:
  • Like Beit Wakil, Diwan Ramsy was recently converted into a boutique hotel. The building is from the 15th century, with the rooms being a blend of the old and the new. It is in the Christian quarter, not far from Aleppo's main attractions.
