Tour from Cairo Hotel by MalenaN This is the best hotel I slept at for 6 dollars. Cairo Hotel is a clean and friendly hotel. The rooms have TV, fridge and bathroom, with hot showers. You can have breakfast here (not included in the price), read or write in the books with traveller's tips and go on daytrips. Cairo Hotel makes daytrips to Krak de Chevalier (with a stop at the crusader castle at Musyaf). I paid 300 SP for a room. I had single room with shower and TV there. that was the only place I had TV in the room.. I found some movie chanel there (hollywood staff) in english (!) with arabic subtitles.... /but to tell you the truth I turned the TV off really very soon.. common in Syria for just wto weeks.. I did not need it there really!!! :)) anyway, anyway, they had TV and also they had good heating ( and that was really important for me as it was quite cold night time in December there). there is another hotel, right becide Riad Hotel, it's name is Cairo Hotel. some ppl told me later Cairo is better. well, anyway, I was quite happy with Riad... and actually I dont know what exactly those ppl meant by "better". In Riad they are arrangeing tours to Krak and to Palmyra (to Palmyra via desert).
it's good and clean. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterAddress: Kouatli St, Hama, SyriaPhone: 00963 33 239512 / 235540Directions: center of the city.Other Contact: riadhotel@SCS-net.org

my room at the cairo by call_me_rhia Rooms at the Cairo are simple but extremely clean, all with private facilities. In the winter their heating system is very powerful, which never hurts. They also have a satellite TV in every room - with at least one channel in English (BBC if I remember correctly) and a couple in French) - which for 8 dollars a night it's a very good deal.
wonderfully friendly owners who fill u up with chai whenever you just drop by the reception desk... and very helpful too. They also offer tours of the area by taxi, and try to group people to share the costs - roughly 40 dollars for a taxi for a day sightseeing. And they have an internet station for guests...perfect! by Sambawalk I stayed in Raid Hotel, which is supposedingly equally as good as its competitior Cario Hotel. The room is clean and there is a nice dining hall which you may stay here and eat your own food, who cares!. I paid 300SR for a single room with attached bathroom. The manager, Mr. Abdullah speaks fluent English and has been very helpful. Although they made mistake by putting me into another day tour that I did not plan to go, they only charged me 50% of the tour, which I think is reasonable as I did visit 50% of the places that I wanted to go PLUS bonus - dead cities (that I did not plan to go).
It is spotless clean and someone makes up the bed everyday, so better locked up your luggage. Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Kouatli StreetPhone: +963-33-239-512 /235-540Website: riadhotel@scs-net.org Other Contact: fax: 517-776

In December 2006, my fellow travellers and I were in Hama for only one night, on our way from Palmyra to Aleppo (via Apamea). Given our very short stay (arrived at sunset, and left by 9am), we wanted to know what we were getting, so we chose to pay the premium and stayed at the government-owned "luxury" chain hotel. While Apamée Cham Palace is reasonably priced by Western standards (~$100 per night), it is considered quite expensive in Syria, and particularly Hama. These "luxury" accommodations are comparable to a Sheraton or a Marriott in Europe or America, i.e. nothing grand. However, upon our return from Palmyra, where our "4-star" hotel was quite sub-standard, the government-style luxury of Apamée Cham Palace was warmly welcomed!
The hotel was built in the mid-eighties, on the site of the tragic events of 1982, when a large section of the ancient city was completely destroyed in internal fights. The building is modern and the rooms are of a decent size. Though the best features of Apamée Cham Palace are its panoramic, unobstructed views of the city of Hama, the Orontes River and the Noriahs. Watching the sun rise over the city and the river was quite a wonderful moment. For those not on a budget who want to discover central Syria, this hotel could be a great anchor point. The 2nd Ed of the Lonely Planet has a short list of what's really available, and I was so sick that I really don't know how my wife settled on this room. But, she did as well as I had on all the other stays in the country. The room was plain, but new and clean, and had a great panoramic view of the city. The price was midrange, and apparently still finishing construction on some rooms. My wife found a travel agency to get directions pharmacy. At the pharmacy, someone spoke good English, and directed her to a late night place to get decent food to go. In any case, Hama Tower is a good choice.
I was sick, so I can't recall a lot, but I don't think the hotel had a pool or any extra things like that. I don't remember trying to ask if the hotel roof would become a restaurant, open to public views of the city, or what. One thing that is clear, it was only a block or so from the Karnak Bus station. This is a 3 star hotel.

Logo by Janani I chose to stay at the Noria hotel in Hama, after reading about it on this website. Arriving in the town, on a small minibus, I planned to take a taxi to the hotel but a fellow passenger suggested I wait for the local bus which would stop in the street where most of the hotels were located. When it arrived, the driver asked the name of my hotel but when I said Noria everyone on the bus looked puzzled and, after some discussion, started suggesting names of hotels they thought I might be staying at. I was a bit surprised, as the hotel is named after the town’s most famous landmarks: its historic waterwheels and I thought I would have no trouble finding it. Eventually someone pronounced “Nawayir” whilst making a wheel movement in the air and I realised that must be the local pronunciation of the name! I was dropped by a dimly lit covered shopping centre, halfway along which was the lift to the hotel’s first floor neat, polished reception, a real contrast to the rather shabby entrance. My room and the bathroom, although small, were similarly smart, very clean and had excellent air conditioning and one small high window. The man running the hotel sat me down to take tea and asked what I wanted to visit, before helping me plan my next day’s sightseeing and onward train travel, then also if I planned to take dinner there. He organised a delicious vegetarian meal for me, of bread and soup followed by green beans in tomatoes with rice, as I ate a little earlier than the other guests at the hotel, I had three waiters providing exceptionally attentive service! The hotel was well situated within easy walking distance of both sets of the famous waterwheels after which it was named Theme: HotelPrice: US$20-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Hama- Al Koatley StreetPhone: 00-963-33-51.24.14.Website: Fax : 00-963-33-51.17.15. I enjoyed my stay here, nice clean room & shower, clean sheets & comfortable bed. Helpful manager who runs tours or provides free advice. Would stay here again, situated in the heart of the town. The Cairo hotel in Hama is really a VERY good hotel. Double with bathtub (ask for room 20!): 475 Pounds (it's around 9US$), breakfast: 75 Pounds (1.5 Pounds), we did a day trip to Apamea, Crac des Chevaliers and to some castles for 1950 Pounds/taxi (39US$)... so it's better to 3 or 4 persons.
Cheap, very clean, helpful staff, organize daytrips around Hama. Theme: HotelComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: See pictures for map (coming soon..)

We paid 500 for a double. It was sheer luxury for us backpackers. We even had a toilet where we could sit down. Towels and soap included. The people at the reception desk spoke perfect English Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Kouwatli Street
