salgam suyu (Turnip Juice)

Turnip juice is a popular beverage of southern Turkey, originating from Adana. Although its Turkish name salgam suyu (or shortened, salgam) does literally mean "turnip juice", it is, in fact, the juice of purple carrot pickles, heavily salted, spiced and flavoured with aromatic turnip (salgam) and fermented in barrels. It is traditionally served cold in large glasses with long slices of pickled carrots, called tane. Hot paprika relish is added just before drinking. Hot or regular, it's a popular drink with Adana Kebab.
salgam is often served with raki (alcoholic beverage)—not mixed, but rather in a separate glass. Salgam is commonly believed to cure hangovers, but drunk in excess it may cause a large amount of intestinal gas.So be careful !!!

The tea houses and restaurants alongside the Seyhan Dam and Lake provide a cool and perfect view of the city and the river at sunsets.Some restaurants have live musdic in the night

You can have a tour across the Seyhan Dam Lake or taste some local food, dessert and drink around there. It's a quiet place where you can enjoy the peace by watching the calm water if you get tired from daily stresses of big chaotic cities.

"Adana"

This is my home (until October). I have been here since July 2002, and although I don't really care for Adana, this country is incredible! There will soon be more information on my travels in Turkey, but for now, this is just a bit about Adana. It is the 4th largest city in Turkey, but there isn't much here. The main mosque is quite grand...very beautiful. Other than that and the lake/river there isn't much to see here. And, unfortunately, you can't get any peace at the lake because it's usually crowded and filled with beggars. The beggars here in Adana are 500% more persistent than anywhere else I have ever been. Quite annoying. If you are coming to Turkey for vacation, you can skip this place. This place is just a big city full of angry Turks (not everybody, but many people here aren't as friendly as in other areas). It is diverse, however. It is in the middle of the spectrum of cultures you will find in Turkey (the "westernized" Turks of the west, and the "traditional" Turks and Kurds of the east). If you have to come here, there are enough pluses to make the best of your time here, but if you want to live in Turkey, I wouldn't recommend Adana!

"History..."

There is so much history here in this country. So much to see! This is an old bridge built by the Romans, still in use today.

"Nargile Cafe"

This is my main hangout. I do love to have a few beers and smoke some nargile! There is live Turkish music here nearly every night, and the staff there are extremely friendly.
Even if you aren't a fan of nargile (which is hard to believe! : ) it's a cool place to hang out.
