Didyma is located near the village of Yenihisar (Yoran) near the town of Söke in the province of Aydýn in the Aegean region. Here one finds an important sanctuary that housed one of the oracles of Apollo. It was connected to Miletus by sea, and those arriving by ship would land at the harbour of Panormus and thence follow the Sacred way to Didyma.
Didyma was connected to Miletus by the Sacred Way, the latter part of which was lined with sarcophagi and statues of lions and sphinxes.
The remains of the earliest temple, which lie within the later building, have been dated to the 8th and 7th centuries B.C. These consist of a sacred wall measuring approximately 24 x 10 m, an open-air sanctuary, a portico 16 m in length, a sacred well and a votive altar
Polatli
by Tuna_ank
Polatli is a big town which is 76 km from Ankara. It is important for Turkish travellers.
Gordion(yassi hoyuk) is a ancient area but there are also something to see about Turkey's big war for independence. Bombardier's school museum also worth to see.
The best bean in Turkey
by Tuna_ank about Hüsrev lokantasi (restaurant)
Normally I don't eat much dry bean but if it is good like this I can eat many times. We call as a "kuru fasulye". We always eat pilav (rice), tursu (pickle) drink Ayran (yoghurt+water+salt)
This bean is coming from Black sea area. You may eat some other Black sea foods here too. Like Karalahana dolmasi.
It is far from the touristic area. You may take a minibus for Balgat and walk a bit. Or you can take a taxi. From Kizilay it can be around 15 YTL, I guess.
Karagöl - Black Lake
by buket
One of the favorite place for picnics around Ankara is, Karagol Lake. Especially in winter or fall it has a beautiful scenery. Trekking in the mountains around the lake, makes one feel excellent (if you don't smoke!!!)!
Parmak Kapisi - Finger Gate
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
The foundations of the citadel were laid by the Galatians on a prominent lava outcrop, and the rest was completed by the Romans. The Byzantines and Seljuks further made restorations and additions.
You may enter the Hisar through the Finger Gate (Parmak Kapisi), also called the Clock Gate (Saatli Kapi) because of the public clock on the white octagonal tower.
You may watch my high resolution photo of Ankara on the Google Earth according to the following coordinates 39º 56' 20.84" N 32º 51' 49.63" E or on my Google Earth Panoramio Parmak Kapisi - Finger Gate .
