Ankara Citadel

by Profsmiley

The area around and inside the citadel, being the oldest part of Ankara, contains many fine examples of traditional architecture. There are also lovely green areas in which to relax.

It is well known that the Ankara region was the cradle of wine in Hatti and Hittite times around 2000 B.C. Many restored traditional Turkish houses in the area of the citadel now serve as restaurants and shops.

Karacabey hamami (Turkish bath)

by Tuna_ank

This Turkish bath is one of the oldest building of Ankara. It was built by Karacabey in 1440. Constituting important part of the Karacabey Kulliye, rectangular Karacabey bath edifice embodies joint dress-change rooms in the west, sweating rooms in the east part of the building with different architectural style. There are men and women parts. It is bigger than Sengul hamami. This area's name is "Hamamönü" because of this building. For finding here first you may find Hacettepe hospital. You may walk near of it, from Talatpasa boulevard. In 3-5 minutes you will see the hamam on your left.

Anýtkabir Hall of Honor

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The Hall of Honor is the iconic symbol of Anýtkabir and the location of Atatürk's tomb. The structure is about 41 x 57 m in plan and rises to a height of 17 m, with the columns themselves measuring about 14 meters.
