We have booked a weeks stay at the Aytur Efftallia, and were wondering what the hotel was like. What the standard of buffet meals are like? having visited Alanya for a few hours when staying in Side.we were wondering how far/near is the hotel from the castle, and finally we have been advised by some people that turkey has become very expensive, is this so? Any help , Ideas you feel may be helpfull we would welcome.

we are going to alanya the aytur efftalia on the 11th of june will let you know what it is like when we get back when are you going heard its very popular with the germans not a good thing when the world cups on our first time in turkey but looking forward to it' bye for now darren.
yes turkey became expensive. last year TL changed to YTL and 6 zeros from the bills were cancelled. the rates of today are 1$: 1.55 YTL and 1€: 1,98 YTL.
before buying stuff just check the prices and bargain if possible (not in big shops and restaurants!)
i dont know where your hotel is but Alanya is awesome!!! a bit crowded and noisy but esp nigthlife is full of fun. dont forget to visit Dimcay and Alarahan

Tersane, the imperial naval docs of the Seljuk/Selcuk Turkish State was build by Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat in 1227 after conquest of Alanya from Byzantine Empire. The Sultan wanted to control Mediterrannean Sea trade and costal area with a mighty fleet by building naval docs. The Sultan also builded another naval docs at Sinop at the Black sea. The Sultan couldnt control the mediterranean but opened a new are in Turkish history. Until that time Turks were only a land-tribesmen who had no idea on sea. 300 years later Turks controlled 7 Seas and 3 continents with their mighty fleet.
The tersane builded in 5 eyed form. Each eye 56,5 meters long, 44 meters depth, 7,7 meters width, 42,3 meters height.
To protect the Tersane the Naval docs Sultan Alaaddin Keyhubat also builded a Fortress which is called Kizil Kule the Red Tower.
