CLEOPATRA & ALANYA
CLEOPATRA, most famous beach! The legendary name of Cleopatra originates from 37 BC when the Roman Emperor Marcus Anthony gifted parts of the town to Cleopatra in order to express his love for the famous Egyptian Queen ... They got one of the most prominent visitors and, according to legend, they spent their honeymoon in Alanya, after which Markus Anthony gave the town to his wife as a present.
So Coracesium (Alanya in ancient times) was given to the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra as a wedding gift by Antonius. Reports have been found that cedar and pine trees got disrooted for transport to Egypt to build the well-known ship construction used by Cleopatra.
She had ass's milk bath near the Rambo Cavern. Finding its entrance you'll have to walk into a wide tunnel about 14 meters down. There is the large cave of Cleopatra and, going up enjoying the view of marvellous overhangs and stalactites, just dive into the clear-blue water. Take a special boat-trip to this spot ... worth a while!
