My advice: DON'T DO IT.

There is no way to know if the diamond is glass and the gold faked with a lower gold content than stamped.

I have some nice earrings wich are stamped 585 which is reserved for 12 Karat solid Gold, but they are only plated. I bought them in the bazar in Alanya and I didn't pay too much for them, so it was ok. (I knew when I bought them that for that price [10 EUR] they could only be plated, but some crook tried to sell me the same make two streets over for 100 EUR!)

If you absolutely must check out jewellery, contact the Chamber of Commerce in Alanya and ask for "safe" traders. If you stay in a decent hotel (5 star minimum) and are with a decent travel agency, you can take the risk of going on a shopping tour with them. There are several outlets around Antalya. Double check for quality and if you have the slightest doubt, refuse to buy.

BTW, I'm a jewellery freak too - and the best deals I've ever made where on ebay (beware of cheats!!!) and through QVC. (www.qvc.com)

just check out the prices before your trip and compare them in alanya. ask as many shops as you can.

no cheating is possible if you ask for the certificate. bargaining is possible to lower the price. and yes gold and diamond is cheaper in turkey. why dont you learn the difference between a diamond and kinds of atomized stones or piece of glass, its not hard believe me. I do and believe me you can understand it when you first look. brightness, sides and corners on it and its reflecting light.

Travel Tips for Alanya

Average Holiday

by yosyos

There is no favorite thing about Alanya for me, i think Side,Kemer,Bodrum,Marmaris,Fethiye are much better places to go. There are 4 main reasons why i dont like Alanya.

- The weather is windy and warm which i dont like.

- Beaches are mixed with sand and stone and algeas. And seperated with rocks.

- Sea is blurry&wavy.

- If you stay outside Alanya centre, there is nothing to do and buy outside the hotel. You may only rely on the hotel's disco. Maybe nice sunset.

The Citadel

by traveloturc

The castle has a castle wall of 6.5 km length, 140 towers, about 400 cisterns, doors with inscriptions and as an open air museum reflects Seljuk art at its best, showing the fascination of Seljuk art. The castle was built by Aladdin Keykubat, the Sultan of Seljuk. The ramparts start from Kýzkule, extend down from Ehmedek and end at Kizilkule at the starting point. The first construction the castle dates from the Hellenistic Period, but in fact the construction took its fascinating and monumental form during the Seljuk Empire. It was surrounded by walls from four sides as it was the centre of administrative and military organisation. Main buildings in the inner castle were constructed so as to lean on the castle walls, except for the western part. Further, on the road to the castle restaurant and cafes are located on the sea side. The castle road is open to vehicle traffic. You can also walk and make the tour in one hour
