Re: Boattrips & Degirmendere Waterfall & Canyon

Well come to my Alanya where I live 6 months of the year.
1- boattrip: There are dailly and nightly boattrips. The night tour is called "Mehtap tour"(moonshine tour) with belly dancer and beer. It takes only one hour sailing in the harbour. it is not expencive. The prices are fixed and written on the tabelle at the quai. last summer it was 5 TL.
Dailly tours are whole day long. They take the passengers to the old Seljuk Turkish docks of the year 1200-1300 and to pirats cave then a long sail to the direction Manavgat. This part of the sailing is not interessant. you just see a 50 km long beach. but good for sunning. I dont know the prive of the tour. You can ask at the quai.

2-Degirmendere is a district of Oba village some 11 kms away from city centre.
3- Alanya is a little town. No need a map. The main blvd is Ataturk Caddesi. It is 20 kms long.

Travel Tips for Alanya

Pamukkale

by Terje1966

Pamukkale means cotton castle.
It`s white terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs according to Wikipedia.
We spent about an hour walking up and down the narrow path open for tourists trying to get some pictures. in mid summer the place was so full of people that it was hard to find a place to stay. as I mentioned the area is mostly closed. Only a narrow path was open for tourists. i dont know but I would guess that there are both conservation and safety reasons for that as the area is both slippery and steep. To get good pictures you should definately avoid mid day and the strongest light.
