GREAT CALAMARI
by whitecliff62 about THE MARINA RESTAURANT
Although the Marina restaurant was pricey it was worth the money, the food is superb and even though it was packed on that perticular night the service was still very good, we went here 3 times on our holiday and on each occasion we never had a bad meal. All in all it was worth the extra money to eat here My favorite meal had to be the calamari served with a good Turkish salad and a wedge of lemon
ALANYA- Turkey

"Wrong Time, Bad Weather"
It's said Alanya got visited by its first tourists in same time Deauville, France, got well-known in the roaring 20's. Not so true knowing the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra already visited this region and we choose Alanya, tourist city of Turkey, to spend a just 10 days decamp at the end of October. Well,... that was wrong; bad time at the right place ... with bad weather!
The high season is from May till October. More than one million tourists had their holiday in Alanya in 2003, which gave the town a lot of money! So it was tourism that effected Alanya and put on the World-map. It is Alanya, too, that has developed so much rapidly, compared to many other Turkish, same size towns, in order to become popular for tourists. Sometimes discrepantly to some locals ... we heard.
"Interesting Alanyas History"
Study and research have shown the Alanya land was inhabited as early as prehistoric times. Its antique name is "Corasiceum", also known in the 2nd century BC as "Korakesion", notorious for its pirates and for that surrounded by a lot of legends.
Like Tryphon, a fearful adversary even for the Roman Empire. Later Alanya was allocated for the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra by Marcus Antonius and history claimed that Cleopatra used the cedar and pine trees of Alanya for building the well-known fleet she used in the Mediterranean.
