Hey all,
I am new to this site, but hey isn't it brilliant.!! I am travelling with my family to stay in mahmutlar region of alanya in july,what id like to know is many things, if you would be so kind ?? 1st- is there a big mosquito problem ?
2nd- what are the temperatures like in july ?. 3rd- has anyone been to the underground city of cappodoccia, if so what is it like ??. BORED yet ?? No, okay then lets try one more, 4th- can we take a boat trip from alanya to marmaris etc, if so, how long ??, Any information about other day trips will be greatly received !!
All help is greatly appreciated !!, We will be staying at the syedra princess if that is any help
alanya is very dry and has few mosquitoes, so no big need to worry there.
july is very hot with temperatures averaging 30-40 degrees celcius.
cappadocia is one of the most amazing places i have ever seen.
a very spectacular combination of history and nature.

Mossies are a NUİSANCE so get yourself some Sinkov spray you can find it everywhere. Spray before you go out in the evening and look around your room beforegoing to bed.
You can't get a boat to Marmaris but there are loads of boat trips in the harbout in Alanya..you can go to northern cypress.
July is HOT its hot now but then phew. So take it easy.
Mahmutlar has a large expat community lots of irish people there and nice friendly bars. The lively nightlife..discos etc are around the harbour in Alanya.Busses run all the time costs 1.5 ytl
Cappadocia is an experience you won't forget..makes you realize how insignificant we all are.
you must go to the Dimcay river for a day out especially in July ..its cooool. the river is fab there are loads of restaurants all along and you can eat on rafts on the water in tree houses or at tables in the water too. go and see it.
A fab day trip if you are interested in history has to be Aspendos roman theatre.its 2000years old and looks spanking new.
my husband works in konakli which is on the other side of alanya but he has a 12 seater taxi if you want to arrange any special days out let me know..or if you want any other info just ask..i love Alanya.
If you ever need to know anything about Alanya and the surrounding district, Happy is the man for you.
He can be found most days in the Monaco Cafe just round the corner from the Parador Hotel.
If he is not there, just ask Ali (the owner) or his wife, they will let you know when he is due.
He is English, but has been living in Alanya for over 5 years, and is a real helpful chap.
Ortahisar is another famous fortified hill surrounded by a curved out town. The journey through the town to the viewpoint is breathtaking and takes a lot of skill on the part of the drover, since the narrow road meanders among the houses, sometimes rising sometimes falling steeply, bending sharply at places.
