Port of Iotape / Aytap.
This old Roman city was named after King Antiochus' wife Iotape. It has a small port, old streets,a baths,a church,a necropolis and acropolis.
Lots of secluded beaches and bays.

hi
im travelling to alanya on 28 feb for 1 week, can anyone tell what sort of weather i can expect at this time of year,is it shorts or ski's ?
28th Feb. is the beginning of Spring in Alanya. You can expect sunny and sometime rainny day. It really showers. But after rain the sun shines and in a few minutes no more wet. The sea will be cold. But not colder then your sea. We Turks dont like to swim in march or april. But Eupeans like it. You can lay on the beaches alone. As long as sun shines you will be tanned. The circus and banana begins blossom. You can wear your shorts.Better bring a raincoat with you and a pullover. If you feel yourslf cold you can buy good quality suits in Alanya. May you come happily and return happily.
i thank you very much for answering my questions about the weather in alanya,it was kind of you to take the trouble to answer my questions,i look forward to coming back to turkey,i have just bought an apartment in mahmutlar and i find the people of turkey to be the friendliest people i have ever met.
thank you and best regards

Very nice.Mahmutlar is newly developing. 8-1o km far from Alanya. You can smell the citrus in Mahmutlar better then Alanya.I live in Alanya too for a few months during the year. I dont decided yet which month I shall come to Alanya. I will write you per VT for my arrival.Plese visit my alanya pages. Here is my tel: 5128354 in Alanya.
Hi,
You can also check the website I use often when I am traveling. (especially for business trips)Although Alanya is not there, there is Antalya which is very close to Alanya.
Antalya one month weather forecast: http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/monthly/TUXX0004?
I wish you sunny days in Alanya :))
Best,
Gokcecicek.
The Alanya Kalesi (Alanya castle) really is a must see. You can take a walk up the mountain, but in the heat it's maybe better to catch a taxi. Remember to discuss the price first.
On the way up there are some cafes and restaurants. There is also a mosque. I wanted to visit it, but it was closed unfortunately.
The view from the castle is absolutely breathtaking. You can see all over Alayna. Be carefull with walking on the castle, some stones are loose!
The exact date of the castle is unknown but Romans, Byzantines and Seljuks all left their influences. The biggest influence on the shape of the castle has been made by Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat.
