Travel Tips for Alanya

Minarets are everywhere

by HyperFredde

The widest religon in Turkey is Islam so there are Mosques and minarets everywhere. They did not borther me at all, but the woke my mom up several times. However, I regret I did not visit a mosque. Visitors are free to visit them, even while praying. But remember, do not take pictures while praying!

DIM ÇAY - go before it's too late

by Maria_75

They are building a dam near Dim Çay now (maybe it's going to be called Dim Dam...? ;) ). The dam (in Dim...) will supply Alanya with fresh water and electricity. Unfortunately this means that many of the restaurants will disappear as parts of the area will be flooded. This is really a pity. Hopefully parts of the river and restaurants will still remain.

A: "Unfortunately you are hoping to be there in the high season so cheap is often not an option. A reminder to keep an eye on your visa situation as the rules keep changing."
