Travel Tips for Altinkum

Bodrum

by mvtouring

Taking a day trip to Bodrum is an absolute must. THere is so much to see and do that it would really be a sin if you miss it. We had a great day there before returning to a cold and wet London (it was suppose to be summer!)

Altinkum - revisited

"Altinkum"

June 2006

Altinkum is such a beautiful place!

It has been described to me as the Turkish version of Blackpool but it isnt.
The beach is so clean and the sea is so beautiful and blue, when you go in it its lovely and cooling and it so clear!!!

On my first day there the beach was emptyish and i was told it was before all the students broke up from college's! Thats where turkish students go on holiday!

I was also lucky enough to see the beach at 7 in the morning when it was empty and not fall of sunbathers and it just looked so pure and untouched, it was beautiful!

Sept 2006

Wow Altinkum was as amazing as ever!
I know it was coming towards the end of the season but everything was so much quieter and you could just walk around and not get hassled and another thing is you didnt have to push past people as there was hardly anyone there!

I went in the 1st week of Ramadan and it was so strange to hear the ramadan drums as i wasnt expecting it and i did swear alot when they first woke me up at 4am. But every night after that i would sit out on my balcony and listen out for him coming up the street and then carry on into the darkness! It was lovely really! alot of people complained but after the initial shock i didnt hear anything wrong with it!

The beach was another lovely change as there was hardly anyone on there so it was lovely to have a stroll along it and have a quick dip without feeling paranoid about losing bags etc in all the crowds!

"Nightlife"

June 2006

The nightlife in Altinkum is spot on!

There are rows and rows of restaurants and bars who are always trying to get you to come in but they dont really bother or hassle you if you dont want to stop!!

There are some bars we went into and the workers were all over us tripping up over each other to get to us first, we didnt like this at all so we stuck to what we know!!!

And that was Ege, Characters and Churchill bars - Everyone in there were so friendly, they did come upto us to have a chat but it wasnt until we had settled into the place and relaxed, they never hassled us and always tried to make are stay the best it could be without being sleezy and rude!

In Characters Bar they have a turkish night every thursday which includes turkish dancing, a belly dancer, turkish food, a fire show and breakdancers!!! Which was brilliant i went both thursdays i was there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sept 2006

Unfortunatly at the turkish nights nowadays they are not allowed to do fire shows as there was a serious accident in one of the bars!
But the boys at Characters still made it special for us! giving us the best seats in the house so we could get amazing photos! =-)

The nightlife i think is so much better as it is a little bit quieter you have a better chance to talk to people without having to shout! and the less people there is the friendlier everyone became! This time we made friends with 2 girls and a group of girls as it was easier to talk and everyone felt more relaxed.

I still stuck to my favourite bars, i dont really like change so it was Churchill, Characters and Ege bars all the way! We got to see all the guys we made friends with and this as it was quieter they had a better time as they werent always running around serving drinks, dancing etc so they were able to come and sit with us and talk!

"Day"

June 2006

On one of the days we went on a boat trip which went round Turkey, we stopped 5 times and bays and beaches, so everyone got a chance to swim in the sea!!

The boat trip was great, but i was too scared to swim in the open sea!! so i just stayed on board which did get a little bit boring but for people who are brave it was briliant for them as they could jump from all levels of the boat and there was a jumping platform at the top of the boat which was higher than everything else which looked alot of fun =-(

The bar and food was all included in the price we paid when we booked it so we didnt have to worry about money the whole day.

It was brilliant for the sunbathers as the top deck was full of sun beds and mattresses to lie on!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sept 2006

The weather in the day wasnt to brilliant as it often went cold, windy and rainy! so it wasnt the best time to sit around the pool or on the beach so we sent most of our time in the bar!!! Oh what a surprise!

But i loved it!
We would wake up late, go for breakfast at about 1-2ish and then sit in Characters or Churchill bar until it was time for our siesta! =-)
It was so much fun as there was no1else in, as no-one ventured out in the rain we had full control of the massive tv with all sky channels!! so we just sat and watched movies or when the boys got hold of some DVD's we would just all cuddle up together and watch them! it was a shame that they didnt do popcorn though!!! =-) it would of been so much better!

We did brave it out some days when the weather was nice so we did walk around Altinkum, we ran out of money though so we couldnt afford to go to far!!! =-(
