I am thinking of spending a week in the area during the last week of May. I have looked at some weather history web sites and was surprised to see that they show that in most of the last 5 years there has been a few days of thundershowers and even days of rain at this time of year. Has anyone experienced this and if so are they just short spells and then back to sun or can it last most of the day? Thank you.

I have been down there several times in May, and had two days of torrential rain and storms one trip and on others it has just been showers, late spring is unpredictable!

You are coming at one of the best time's of the year. The spring and fall are the best times in the Antalya area. Don't be too concerned, the weather should be good and even if it rains it should clear up fairly quickly.
In Hieropolis there is the warm water source. Near of the city park was built with warm baths inside. you can swim there but it's recomended to swim not long, 2 hours around, because then it becomes dangerous for the skin. In the photo I stay in the water sourse. Picture, as you see, is enough interesting.
It is good to skiing in the Saklikent ski center at Antalya than return to seaside and start to windsurf and sun bathing all in 1 hour. Saklikent is about 2200 meters high and 50 km's from the Antalya city center...more at the website below.
One of the well preserved architecture inside the city is the Hadrians gate.
The gate was made during 130 AD for the name of Roman Empire "Hadrian" who was visiting the city.. The door consist of 3 archways, and built in white marble. The gate was the entanceway to the old city.
The gate is so interesting that on one side is the modern Ataturk street and palm trees of Antalya and on the other side the old city of Antalya, with old houses..
