I have been to Antalya and around several times. It is a fabulous location for summer; sea + sun + sand + entartainment vacation.

This summer we have been to Club Med Palmiye with my 4 months old son Demir.

Arykanda

by marsistanbul

Arykanda is a ruin site near the Arkiricay district of Arif village, near the Elmali-Finike highway. It is located on a very steep rock cliff called Sahinkaya(falconrock),on the south side of the Bey mountains.Standing on the northern edge, the name of this steep rock in the Luwian language was "Arykawanda",meaning "Below the lofty Rocky Cliffs".

Market

by nigelw6443

Antalya has a busy covered market that is interesting to walk around. I was very tempted to buy a carpet or two but the seller was far to pushy for my liking. I ended up walking around a bit but I didn't buy anything, instead I opted to get out and have a look around the streets nearby.

The city walls of Antalya

by marsistanbul

The history of the city walls surrounding Kaleici, the ancient nucleus of the city of Antalya,a district which cannot fail to remind the visitor of a cultural garden of a thousand flowers adorned with the choicest buildings from the Roman,Byzantine,Seljuk,Ottoman and Republican periods,is in effect, identical with the history of the city itself.
An examination of the defence walls reveals the whole historical development of the city and the opening up of the city and the opening up of the coastal cities to the outside, while at the same time it allows one to breathe an atmosphere of freedom. These walls, provide the sources for the history of Antalya, and it is by examining the stones, touching the mortar and reading the inscriptions, that you can get to know the cultural and historical identity of the city..
"the history of the city walls is the history of Kaleici and even of the city of Antalya itself"

"ASPENDOS THEATRE"

Aspendus was a major port city in the Roman period with the navigable river of Köprüçay leading to the sea.According to the legends,Aspendus was founded by Mopsus in the 13th Century BC and was conquered in the 6th Century BC by the Lydian King Croesus. After Cyrus's victory over Croesus in the same Century the city became Persian. In the 5th Century BC Aspendus minted its own silver coins, an indication of it status.Alexander the Great took over from Persians in the 4 th Century BC.As the sands of power shifted, Aspendus entered into good relations with Rome, marking the start of a new era.
Aspendos theatre is one of the largest ancient buildings of Anatolia and is accepted as one of the best preserved antique theaters known to man.
